Taxman! IGT (04/17), Mets at Phils

Kid Carsey
Apr 17 2007 04:07 PM

One, two, three, four...
Hrmm!
One, two, (one, two, three, four!)

Let me tell you how it will be;
There's one for you, nineteen for me.
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

(if you drive a car, car;) - I’ll tax the street;
(if you try to sit, sit;) - I’ll tax your seat;
(if you get too cold, cold;) - I’ll tax the heat;
(if you take a walk, walk;) - I'll tax your feet.

Taxman!

'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Don't ask me what I want it for, (ah-ah, mister Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more. (ah-ah, mister heath)
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Now my advice for those who die, (taxman)
Declare the pennies on your eyes. (taxman)
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

And you're working for no one but me.

Taxman!

Apparently Billy Joel didn't write songs about taxes.

Maz talking Yanks/Sox in the pre-game ... I knew it would take long for
some of the pinstripes to start bleeding out.

Willets Point

Is there baseball being played?

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 06:25 PM

Mets up 2-1 on a Moises Alou homer. We're in the top of the fourth.

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 17 2007 06:47 PM

Beltran sez:

Suck on that, Uncle Sam!

Big hit!!

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 06:48 PM

He knocks in Glavine with a double after Castro's singe.

Lo Duca started. What happened to him?

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 17 2007 06:48 PM

Come on David, three dependents on the basepaths.

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 06:50 PM

What? And ruin his Juan Pierre-iffic .341 / 0 homers / 0 RBI line?

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 17 2007 06:50 PM

Dookie took an Utley foul ball off his right hand. Direct hit, looked like a shot on the thumbone. He stayed behind the dish for the rest of the inning but then bailed.

Wright doesn't look right.

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 06:54 PM

Damn, David.

Sandy Alomar and the Zephyrs are in New Orleans against Indianapolis tonight. This could be the first big test on whether the Mets can get an emergency sub onto the team on time.

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 17 2007 06:59 PM

I'm still satisfied to get 1 out of that inning, seeing as it took 3 hits.

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 06:59 PM

Double by Rollins and a walk to Victorino and the tying run is at the plate.

Does the Met pen have it again tonight?

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 07:01 PM

Dasterdly Utley goes down on a called strike down the pipe.

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 07:02 PM

Let me tell you how I made that nickname up...

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 07:05 PM

And Howard swinging.

Yeah, baby, yeah!

Batty31
Apr 17 2007 07:06 PM

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....Met killer is up. I don't think I can look.

Apr 17 2007 07:07 PM

Glavine is dealing..

Batty31
Apr 17 2007 07:07 PM

Popped it up! I can breathe now.

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 17 2007 07:09 PM

Very impressive for Glavvie. Not to get presumptuous, but 3 wins by tax day is a pretty good srtart to the Magic 10.

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 17 2007 07:10 PM

Alou with some double happiness.

Batty31
Apr 17 2007 07:11 PM

WHOA! Dinger number 2 for Alou!!!

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 07:11 PM

Moises has just parted a red sea of fans in left field.

My word. Right into the wind. Nice signing, Omar.

Kid Carsey
Apr 17 2007 07:12 PM

ALOOOOOOOO

(I gotta find an image to adopt the old fart)

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 07:12 PM

Another awful at-bat by Shawn Green results in a double.

Kid Carsey
Apr 17 2007 07:13 PM

That'll catch up with him.

Batty31
Apr 17 2007 07:16 PM

No comment on that one.....

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 17 2007 07:20 PM

Sandy Senior is hardly drenched in glory tonight.

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 17 2007 07:28 PM

If that was actually a squeeze play, is it the first Willie's ever called?

metirish
Apr 17 2007 07:45 PM

Not our best IGT,must be the cold weather, that last double play form the Mets was sweet,Glavien a solid six,Phillies pen is awful,Feliciano pitching.

I don't ever remember Willie calling for a squeeze like that.

Kid Carsey
Apr 17 2007 07:56 PM

I doubt it's the only one, but it's not checkable I guess unless someone
specifically remembers one.

And whatya mean not our best IGT? Now we're grading them? (j/k)

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 08:00 PM

We're opening things up now.

Oh, and the Green comment was ironic.

I thought I heard Gary say it was the first squeeze Willie has called for in two years, but I'm not positive.

This Phillies pen will cost Manuel his job,guy comes in and all he does is walk guys, bases loaded.

Kid Carsey
Apr 17 2007 08:05 PM

Ironic? You mean prescient.

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 08:11 PM

No, somebody else earlier in the year complained about "another bad at-bat" when he was like eight for his first 20.

Batty31
Apr 17 2007 08:12 PM

I can't look again....

Batty31
Apr 17 2007 08:13 PM

I guess that's what I must do everytime he's up...not look!

Feliciano still with a goose egg ERA on the season. Sling it.

Our Smith is better than their Smith.

Just what you need during weather like this ... a 3-1/2 hour game.

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 08:30 PM

You're not at the ballpark.

Rooting for a losing team.

Heh, heh.

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 08:34 PM

Any report on Dookie?

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 17 2007 08:41 PM

X-rays were negatory but he wanted to get another opinion before they board the plane.

Burgos > Howard with 2 men on.

Rockin' Doc
Apr 17 2007 08:42 PM

It is definitely the Mets night. Burgos retires Howard on a 400 foot fly out. He had him all the way.

Edgy DC
Apr 17 2007 08:47 PM

In July, that thing goes about 60 feet further of course.

Burgos = Julio in a big way.

I am positive that it was indeed the first squeeze ever called by Willie as Mets manager. I still wonder what exactly happened there. It didn't seem like Green got any sign (usually squeeze signals are whispered by the third base coach) for that play.

The Phillies just look terrible. Victorino doesn't look like he should be playing in the majors; that 'pen is awful. Unless Howard and Utley wake up big time they're going to lose a lot.

Benjamin Grimm

Every supermarket in the Philadelphia area has, on its magazine racks, the current issue of Philadelphia Magazine featuring a big smiling closeup of Ryan Howard's face. The caption is, "HE WON'T LET US DOWN"

Terrible expectations to put on a young player. I don't know if Howard will ultimately let them down or whether he won't, but he very well might.

I remember when we would have said the same thing about Dwight Gooden.

And I'm glad we're not quite saying it about David Wright yet.
