Matsui's homecoming, ruint.

Three-run homer for Valentin.

Until Green's homer on Friday night against Atlanta, I had not seen a Met hit a home run. (They always homered when I was away from the TV.)

Now I've seen two by Green and one by Valentin. (Hey! Their names rhyme!)

I wouldn't be surprised if he went on the DL just to avoid NYC...

Edgy DC
Apr 23 2007 06:10 PM

I would.

HEY! LOOK! BIG SHEA!

Let's get some action. Mets up 4-0 midway through the fifth, the top half of which ends on a nice running catch in foul ground by the Green Machine.

This mid-inning Pac-Man graphic on MLB.TV is horrible. Where's Tom Petty?

Liking Big Shea up top....vintage Shea to boot.

Why are there YES Yankees commercials on SNY during Mets games?

Does YES show SNY commercials?

Marlins beating the Braves 8-3, giving us a good shot to re-claim first tonight. Bring him in, Jose.

Never seen YES show them,it's like SNY can't show us enough times that they cover all NY soprts...OK we fucking get it...

Alou stranded after a lead off double. Even with a 3 run lead, I hate when that happens.

Edgy DC
Apr 23 2007 06:56 PM

They fail to score the leadoff doubler, in part because they sent Maine out to bat. Now he returns to pitch the seventh, with 88 pitches under his belt.

Edgy DC
Apr 23 2007 06:59 PM

Makes Barmes look stupid as he gets the hat-trick on him.

That young man is lost. My impression is that he rushes into the batter's box and the pitcher has him off-balance the whole at-bat.

Maine does the seventh on six pitches and I'm pretty certain he'll see an eighth.

A ninth is unlikely unless the Mets put this out of save range though.

Bob Keppell finally gets to Shea.

Welcome to 2007, Carlos!

David?

Shea played somebody's cover of the Violent Femmes' "Gone Daddy Gone" for that homer.

Wright walks on four. Nothng wrong with his walk rate.

Moses parted the Red Sea.

Moises parted the Rockies infield. He's 3-3.

Edgy DC
Apr 23 2007 07:09 PM

Hey-Zeus, Poolers. I'm looking like a solo act.

They did? Damn...I missed that. Wonder who did the cover of that.

I'm telling you, until he hits a HR this season, I will refer to him as David Wrong.

Edgy DC
Apr 23 2007 07:16 PM

Hey a partner.

Delgado's got some graphic commentary due to him:

Edgy DC
Apr 23 2007 07:18 PM

Two out in the eighth, he fans Atkins on his 104th pitch.

I'm rooting for the complete game. I don't think I'm getting it, though.

Edgy DC
Apr 23 2007 07:20 PM

Two singles and he gets the hook.

Big ovation as his 7 2/3 is a 2007 high for a Metly workday.

Checking iTunes, it sounds like the cover-artist is Gnarls Barkley. Trashmonkeys also have a version listed.

Burgos on in the ninth.

Walks the first guy, but gives Barmes the Golden Sombrero. Yike.

Great outing by Maine, read the other day he has asthma,I imagine it must be tough to toe the rubber when it's humid.

Burgos making few friends, having just pitched the Mets into a save situation.

Solid game. Especially impressed with Maine.

Delgado squeezes the last out and becomes Burgos' best friend.

You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warning
Take the 8:15 into the city
There's a whistle up above
And people pushin', people shovin'
And the girls who try to look pretty

And if your train's on time
You can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day

And I'll be...
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime

Work out!

If it were easy as fishin'
You could be a musician
If you could make sounds loud or mellow
Get a second-hand guitar
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of fellows

People see you having fun
Just a-lying in the sun
Tell them that you like it this way
It's the work that we avoid
And we're all self-employed
We love to work at nothing all day

And we be...
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime

Take good care!
Of my business!
When I'm away!
Every day whoo!

You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warning
Take the 8:15 into the city
There's a whistle up above
And people pushin', people shovin'
And the girls who try to look pretty

And if your train's on time

I love to work at nothing all day

And I'll be...
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime

Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business

Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime

Atlanta coming back in the ninth against the closer-free Marlins. It's 8-7, two out and McCann up with a man on second.

Edgy DC
Apr 23 2007 07:54 PM

McCann goes McFann and the Mets are back in first.

Dave Gallager in Lee Mazzilli's chair for the postgame.

The deep drive to the warning track in right field was an encouraging sign for our third baseman.

Regardless, I think we see Mr. Newhan starting at third either tomorrow or (more likely) Wednesday afternoon.
