Just saw it on ESPN,it was amazing, one hitter was called out swinging by 2nd base ump and Byrnes on the 2 - 2 pitch was nearly rang up by the same ump ,count went to 3-2 and then he walked....great stuff...

Peavey - 7.2 innings oitched,2 hits 16 K's

I was thinking when I saw Peavy's line that he has a chance to lose this game,score was 2 - 1 Padres,what a shame.

If he were a man he would have finished the game like Seaver.

Seaver's 10 came to end the game right? I think I remember him talking about it once and joking that the only reason it wasn't more than 10 is because the game was over.

Hardly like Seaver to self promote.....Tom SO the last ten Padres for a total of 19....Arpil 22nd 1970....

Yes it was the last 10 batters of a game in Sandy Eggo.
Dave "Soup" Campbell - who later went on to work for ESPN - was part of that game said once that he didn't want to take anything away from Seaver who was def dealing that day anyway but it was an afternoon game and the end was played in those creeping shadows that sometimes affect hitters and that no one stood a chance by the latter portion of the game. It was a 19K game overall.

Speaking of complete games last night the M's defeated the A's 2-0 as both starters went 9 (Washburn vs. Blanton) and the game was over in 1:47.

Very cool. I think my record still is 1:55 for a ARZ-LA (Schilling and Kevin Brown both pitched CGs) 2-0 game in April '01.

At 1:55 I'm still in the concessions line at Shea.

I've been doing some tracking of game times - that was the 3rd sub-2:00 game so far this season.
