Got to try find some at-bats for the guy, don't we? Keeep the heavy hitters fresh. Give the other team a different look.

Yeah,I think giving Beltran and Alou a rest would do the trick, hate to sit Green for fear he might lose whatever it is that has him hot right now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him in today's lineup. Newhan has to get a start at some point also.

I'd be shocked if we didn't see a Davey Johnson Sunday Special today.

Reyes SS
Chavez LF
Beltran CF
Wright 3B
Green RF
Castro C
Franco 1B
Easley 2B

Willie's answer has been that - between the early season built-in off days plus the rain-outs - he hasn't wanted to give his regulars even more days off than they've been getting. Now that we're starting to hit a more consistant stretch of games you might see a few changes - maybe starting today with the old DGANG.

A note during last night's game mentioned that the Mets are the only team with as many as five guys who have started every game: Reyes, Wright, Green & Carlos^2. Endy's only start, I believe, was the one game where Moises sat.

Not for nothin but Alou and, dare I say it, Reyes, look to be cooling some.

I have no idea who'd start at SS instead of Reyes. Valentin? Easley?

I think it would have to be Easley. Don't want to shift starters unnecessarily and Easley was in 27 games at shortstop last season. That being said, I don't expect Reyes to get much in the way of days off this year.

Me neither. In the event of an injury I'm sure they'd recall Hernanderson.

And your 2006 opening-day secondbaseman is chugging along at .224 / .250 / .318 // .568 in the Big Easy.

Thanks for finding at-bats.

Take away that 4-hit Yankee game and ND's been a rather negligable contributor since he begun starting, no?

He's been playing everyday since 5/13 and, over that 14-game span, the Mets have gone 10-4. ND's numbers over that period were:

15/52 (.288 BA) 6r / 6rbi / 2 2b / 1 3b /1 hr / 5bb / 7k / 2/4 sb
[Taking away the Yankme game, he hit .234 over that period.]

Take away my grand-dad's testicles and he'd be my grandma,

Well, no, he'd still be my grand-dad, just hopping mad and screaming "What'd you do THAT for?", but you get the idea. .234's pretty good for two week span where you've taken away a four hit game.

also what's most important is the relative display of plate discipline. If Endy can continue to get on base at .360+ clip, slg 400-440 and play stellar defense, he's not doing us any harm at all.

[on edit moved the slg'ing down a bit]
