Hopefully the dirtiness of reassembling for a Reality show has worn off and INXS is ready to be remembered for what they did right again. But what did they do right best? You must decide. This Important Poll has many choices -- consider carefully!

A) New Sensation

B) Don't Change (Live)

C) Need You Tonight/Meditate

d) The Devil Inside

e) What You Need

f) Original Sin

g) I Send a Message

Slow songs like "Never Tear Us Apart" and "Beautiful Girl" are softly demanding inclusion.

Write-in votes are allowed.

If you're a total homo, that is.

INXS is big on my IPod if only for the inclusion in my running playlist(s). Great music to work out to.

They would've done well in the old Band Ladder challenge that was going on here back in the day. Their top 10 would've matched up well against many.

My write in will be for Suicide Blonde (just barely over What You Need). Disappear should've been on that list, too.

Yeah, like partipation in this poll doesn't out a man right off.

My INXssue was that they were a six-piece that sounded like a three-piece.

Write in for "Never Tear Us Apart".

We then have a three-way tie. In fact, "NTUA" might be in the lead if the pre-emptive homo bomb accusation didn't make it such a high-stakes vote.

As you vote, proceed with the same gender security that allowed you to even go to concerts in the eighties.

Id'a guessed "Need You Toinite" would run away with this thing, not get zero votes as it has. That's good.

The correct answer is A or perhaps B.

Dream on, white boy, I cast my vote for Original Sin. Grossly underappreciated in my opinion.

Listen Like Thieves would be my write-in choice.

"Don't Change": Outstanding drum fills and a wide palate of sound (for once justifying the six-piece lineup).

The same power and passion that made it a 1985 floor-filler at Malibu makes it my choice in this very important poll.

Just noticing "New Sensation" and "I Send a Message" use the same first-verse "pause" technique.

INXS had more songs eligible for a VIP than I would have guessed at first. Their album "The Swing" (which you know was supposed to be big because the cover folded open like a book) was in heavy rotation on my grammophone right at the time the Mets were World Series bound in '86.

As it turned out they really blew up the next year with KICK even though their earlier stuff was mostly better IMO. That's the point at which Hutchence went from a new wave singer to a sex symbol marked for an early grave.

INXS were timing their releases at that time, I think, for when REM and U2 were in between records. They made a successful big-time push, even as they got weaker.

I guess Hutchence gets credit, such as it is, for wearing devil horns before Bono.

I voted for "Don't Change". "Never Tear Us Apart" was my friends' wedding song...and they ended up divorced a couple of years ago.
