the one beer to have when you're having more than one

had a bbq last night. went to the store and bought a 12 pack ($5.49). to schaefers's demise, the other beer was corona light.

once the coronas were gone, we stuck the shaefer in the freezer to get them so cold we could'nt taste them.

on a side note, isn't "the one beer to have when your'e having more than one" the greatest slogan ever created to promote binge drinking?

To be crisp, a beer must be icily light,
With true lager flavor, precisely right

Pretty much tastes like piss to me. Dark piss, light piss, Kreusened piss...it's all piss, and I'll drink it only if it's really cold and I'm really thirsty, and usually not even then.

Patona: what does "demise" mean in your post?

My beer is Rheingold the dry beer
Think of Rheingold whenever you buy beer.

Hoegaarden white beer in short supply

]4 May 2007

BRUSSELS –The supplies of Hoegaarden's white beer have completely dried up at supermarkets Delhaize and Carrefour and at many bars and pubs throughout the country.

Not because the beer has been selling so fast, but because InBev is struggling with brewing and packaging problems with Flanders' most popular beer on the terraces, Het Laatste Nieuws reports today.

The unions say moving production of the beer to the Walloon location of Jupille has caused the problems. "The beer they produce there often has to be thrown out because it is not at all fit for consumption. So a lot of the white beer coming from Jupille is being shipped to the Netherlands to be made into pig feed. It really is a crisis," the unions say.

InBev says that a "local" problem with packaging is responsible for the shortage. "We are indeed having difficulties making capacity, but that has nothing to do with any brewing problems in Jupille," says spokesperson Lian Verhoeven.

Was introduced to that Hoegaarden White Beer about a year or so ago.

A most excellent brew.

There are few things food related than trying to guzzle down a dozen or so ale beers that are past the expiration dates. I guess skunky lagers are different, but I tried downing a Sam Adams Boston Lager that expired in April last night, and I couldn't even make it past 1/4 of the bottle.

Blame this one on my Dad for helping a friend out by taking a couple of excess Sam Adams cases from his friend's son's Bar Mitzvah in very late March, he also took home a case of Heineken Light, though I have no clue when that epiration date is, and it hasn't been opened yet.

Hoegaarden White Beer was one of my most disappointing beer experiences. I had heard such rave reviews about it and decided to give it a try and I bought a six pack about a year and a half ago. It looked great in a glass, but I just didn't like the taste. I have enjoyed other white wheat beers, but I just didn't like Hoegaarden. I gave the final two bottles of the six pack to a friend, who also didn't like it. Fortunately, his wife liked it and she eventually drank the two remaining bottles.

I have since found Hoegaarden White Beer to be one of those beers that people either love or they just don't like it. It is definitely different, but it just wasn't for me.

BTW, just to add, its even more annoying trying to convince someone that probably had so many cheap and cruddy beers that he is impervious to expired skunky beer that hasn't been refrigerated SINCE going past the expiration date, that said bad beer is hard to consume.

Why the hell am I still living rent free...

Seriously, one day I had a rather bitter, old Sam Adams from my Dad's fridge, it was SOOOOO bad I walked down to a local pub and ordered myself a bottle of Sam Adams just to get the taste of a still fresh Sams back!

I'm with Doc on the Hoegaarden. There's this great little place in Seal Beach called the Abbey I like to go to. They have a small, but kinda classy selection of beers like Chimay, Maredsous, Maudite, and a dozen or so others. I try a different one every time and was pretty underwhelmed with Hoegaarden.

They have a Red Trolley Ale by the Karl Strauss brewery in San Diego that's great.

I still like this 90 Schilling Ale by Odell's:

and have dug everything I've tried made by Deschutes, though I never see it in the store.
