like that lineup.

First late-nite of the year!

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 07:56 PM

'Zona announcers are remarking that Glavine is cheatingly off the rubber. He's freaking not.

Kid Carsey
May 03 2007 07:56 PM

For as ugly as the red uni's are, I kinda like the D*backs white jerseys.

Career number 2,500 K for Glavman in the first.

Clever in theory, awkward in execution.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 08:08 PM

I'm OK with black as a secondary color.

Byrnes is fast.

Moises is throwing to the wrong base. Did the cutoff man set up wrong?

Gwreck
May 03 2007 08:21 PM

I think he just threw to the wrong base. Reyes was set up between second and third. Beltran probably could've helped him out too.

Moises looked pretty bad though when he was unable to cut off that ball.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 08:36 PM

Seems to me Reyes has the responsiblity to set up there.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 08:37 PM

These guys didn't supershift on Delgado, did they?

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 08:39 PM

Moises took that pitch out of the catcher's glove to tie it.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 08:45 PM

Paulie, way to get back in the game.

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 09:08 PM

That dude was all over that Glavine offering for the HR, no?

Howie Rose sez Glavine desires a career in broadcasting following his baaseball career.

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 09:09 PM

Llos whaling on that sinkerballer.

GYC
May 03 2007 09:09 PM

That's a lot of fucking power.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 09:13 PM

Alou going out in the sixth innng of a tie game.

Not good.

Key to winning for the Mets: getting peeps on for Beltran.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 09:18 PM

Micah Owings must be on pitch #200.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 09:19 PM

Drew is slick and quick.

Gwreck
May 03 2007 09:19 PM

102 was his last pitch to LoDuca (and his last pitch of the game, presumably).

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 09:24 PM

Yuk.

Only thing worse than taking a lead and giving it back on a HR the next half-inning is doing it twice.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 09:24 PM

You don't give up a homer to a guy with a 1 on his back.

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 09:33 PM

David Newhan Deathwatch is on.

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 09:35 PM

Fucking stupid

Gwreck
May 03 2007 09:41 PM

Rally time...NOW!!!

Reyes getting picked off = terrible.

Willets Point
May 03 2007 09:42 PM

I'm overwhelmed by the impartiality shown by the D-Backs' announcers.

Frayed Knot
May 03 2007 09:45 PM

Time for Delgado to keep himself off my official worry list.
I don't think he's made decent contact in more than 4 or 5 ABs this year.

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 09:49 PM

Looks like he's getting worse.

Frayed Knot
May 03 2007 09:57 PM

Coming back to Heilman suggests that the fans whispering about elbow worries isn't a concern to Willie.

Chavez, Green & LoDuca isn't the ideal order I'd like up in the 9th - but then again the ones I did want up hardly distinguished themselves in the 7th & 8th.

Johnny Dickshot

Eight miles high and when you touch down
You’ll find that it’s stranger than known
Signs in the street that say where you’re going
Are somewhere just being their own

Nowhere is there warmth to be found
Among those afraid of losing their ground
Rain gray town known for it’s sound
In places small faces unbound

Round the squares huddled in storms
Some laughing some just shapeless forms
Sidewalk scenes and black limousines
Some living some standing alone

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 10:04 PM

Green don't get cheated.

Tony Clark is permeable, thank Heaven.

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 10:06 PM

Nice ballsy turn at bat there for LoDuca.

Frayed Knot
May 03 2007 10:08 PM

- guy put in for defense makes an error ... CHECK
- guy who doesn't walk walks ... CHECK

it all points to something good happening ... unless it doesn't.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 10:08 PM

Tying run and go-ahead runs on. Damion up.

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 10:08 PM

FUCK YEAH!!!

Frayed Knot

GREAT GOOGLY-MOOGLY!!!!

Gwreck
May 03 2007 10:09 PM

EASLEY!

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 10:09 PM

That's how you do it, Newhan.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 10:10 PM

Easley

Doesn't

Suck!

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 10:11 PM

Valverde is completely humiliated. His body language has looked terrible since the E3

This one is worth staying up late for.

Wagner won't even get a save opportunity. opposite field shot for david wright!

Johnny Dickshot
May 03 2007 10:19 PM

Ka-slam.

Frayed Knot
May 03 2007 10:21 PM

Wright gives Wags the rest of the night off

Rockin' Doc
May 03 2007 10:21 PM

I love wins without the need of a save opportunity.

Frayed Knot
May 03 2007 10:24 PM

I've never seen a stadium with as much behind the plate and in/on dugout advertising - much of it for casinos.

Johnny Dickshot

Once again, big props to LoDuca who was 0-2 and took some awfully tempting balls en route to what was a huge walk. When Easley hit it I only hoped it wouldbn't be caught; but it woulda been enough to score Green off the wall.

Willets Point
May 03 2007 10:27 PM

I don't want to hear anything about how much the Mets offense sucks after this game.

Rockin' Doc
May 03 2007 10:27 PM

Endy opens the ninth inning with a strike out, then ends the inning with a strike out.

sucks for him but i'd be happy if that happened to us all the time.

edit-- ahhhh i'm carl everett!!

they're gonna eat me!

Edgy DC

Let Lino!

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 10:34 PM

I'm Green keen.

Willets Point
May 03 2007 10:35 PM

Somehow Green's hat didn't fall off on that one.

Edgy DC
May 03 2007 10:36 PM

Eleven in a row. Slam that book shut.

It's not Easley being Green.

His only two at-bats for the game, although he was on base earlier as a pinch-runner.

I wonder if a pinch-hitter has ever batted twice in the same inning?

Nymr83
May 03 2007 11:26 PM

i'm sure it happens pretty often (a few times a season)

Willets Point
May 03 2007 11:29 PM

Really? I don't think batting around the order is all that common with the additional odds that a pinch-hitter would be one of the ones who comes up twice in the same inning.

Nymr83
May 04 2007 12:35 AM

i lost what i was writing, stupid back button. do 162x16x9 to get the number of innings in a year (approximate since it wont take into account bottom of the 9ths not played and extra innings), then figure out what the frequency of batting around should be (last year's NL OBP was .343) then multiply by the number of innings in a year. from there we'd have to figure out the frequency of pinch-hitter use and assume that a pinch-hitter bats twice in 1/9th of all innings in which the team bats around, 1/4.5 of all innings where 10 hitters come to the plate, etc.
too much work for me, but that would be the framework to figure out the likelihood of it happening.

quick googling shows me that this year on april 13th chad moeller pinch hit for aaron harang in the top of the 5th and then batted again later that inning.

That 2-2 pitch to LoDuca was strike 3. Easley was out on that chopper to short in Washington. Always good to have a little luck fall your way.
