These guys need your help.

The B-Mets have lost 14 of their last 15 series dating back to last season. After Thursday's doubleheader sweep by New Britain, the B-Mets have lost 11 of their last 14 games. The B-Mets had the worst team ERA in the Eastern League with a 5.42. As a team, the B-Mets are hitting just .243 through Thursday's games. The B-Mets played just six home games in April thanks to the weather, going 3-3.. Who's hot: Fernando Martinez went 9-for-18 in the New Britain series. Who's not: Jose Reyes is 3 for his last 18.
Yuck.

Some good news from the B-Mets.

Caleb Stewart was named Eastern League Player of the Week (May 14-20),and he's on a hitting tear, batting .455 (10-for-22) with two home runs and seven RBIs over that stretch.

This week he's not let up,Wednesday night he hit a grand slam in the 5-2 win over Connecticut and homered again yesterday in the B-Mets' 9-6 victory, going 3 for 4 to raise his average to .331.

B-Mets turned a triple play in that 5-2 win Wednesday night.

I think I'll make the trip to Norwich in July to see them play the Defenders....

Hey, we might be there for one of those games! I'll let you know.

Cool - I'm looking at July 1st - the Sunday day game - I'll probably be bringing the whole brood, too.

The closest Eastern League city to me is New Britain. The B-Mets just played a series there. I would have loved to have seen them, but I had to work late.
Rats!
The first B-Met game I attended there was when Butch Huskey was (mis)playing third base for them and the DP combo was Quilvio Veras and Fernando Vina. Rick Otero was also on the squad, which probably qualified them for the title of shortest team in history.

Bing may have hit a turning point:

Note the recollection of Bryon Gainey. He's the one whose heart gave out on him, isn't he?

And we get a Grant Roberts mention in the same sentence, too.

Thanks,
