Travis Hafner, Chick Magnet

First of all, credit to the Sand Gnats website. It's a font of information compared to most of the Mets other affilliates. That's not entirely the fault of the Zephyrs and company, because minor league baseball is going the way of MLB, and unifying all minor-league team sites under one domain and a universal template. The Gnats remain online-independent thus far probably because the minor-league baseball folks consider AAA to be the top priority.

The long ball. It's a reference to a Nike ad that Glavine and Greg Maddux did late in the 1998 season that featured Heather Locklear and Mark McGwire. Essentially Mark was getting all the attention so Glavine and Maddux decided to do some "extra training." The punch line though was that despite their new BP power (which gave way to the catch phrase) Heather was still interested in Mark McGwire!

We think Edgy was making reference to the ad and not to his personal take on Hafner's attractiveness (although ya never know)

That is still one of the funniest sports commercials ever.

I remember thinking it poorly timed so soon after Larry Jones' Hooters waitress scandal to have a commercial showing two of his married teammates eagerly seeking the attention of baseball Annies.
