Frank Torre

Did anyone notice the small story about Frank Torre (Joe's older brother) who, at the age of 75, has received a kidney transplant, with the donor being his 37-year-old daughter?

That just strikes me as really wrong. I can understand a parent donating a kidney to a child. But I can't imagine a parent accepting their child's kidney, especially a parent who is 75 years old.

If my daughter offered me her kidney I'd be moved beyond words, and I'd thank her profusely, but I couldn't possibly accept it.

I guess circumstances differ. But I guess Torre's circumstances are what they are.

True. Maybe his daughter has four or five kidneys. If that's the case, then I can't fault him for taking one of them.

Pretty soon Frank is going to have no original parts left.

And it was a mixed week for the Torre family. Frank got his transplant, but their sister lost her job as Principal of a school.
