Shawn hill went 5 hitless innings for Washington tonight before leaving the game with an injury. See Yankee fans? it doesnt just happen to you.

The Yankees trail Seaattle 3-0 in the 8th.

Atlanta won to stay tied with the Mets.

San Fran's young phenom Tim Lincecum went 7 allowing 3 runs (2 earned) for his first major league victory.

Jack Cust, professional Hitter.

7 games, 6 HR for the newly acquired A's DH-- they don't seem to miss Piazza much!

Red Sox score 6 in the 9th to beat Baltimore 6-5. Ugly last inning for O's who waste 8.1 shutout IP by Jeremy Guthrie.

Too bad for the MFYs, they're now 8 games out.

Ted Lilly is the man, having an oliver perez-like outing today.

San Fran's Fred Lewis had 5 hits today.
Yankees lose 2-1 wasting a great Pettite effort.

Meaning that we'll miss Lily in the Cubs series this week and he's been pitching well lately

That Fred Lewis 5 hits included the cycle in only his 16 ML game. Cycles are a quirk more than anything ... but it's still kinda kool.

The Pettitte effort looked a bit better than it was, Seattle should have scored at least 6.

cycles are quirky and also overrated, its 10 total bases which can be done several ways, including (probably way more common) 2 HRs and either a double or two singles which is probably more "valuable."
but cycles are still fun.
