I'm here.

Is that very comforting to you?

Nymr83
May 12 2007 11:55 AM

you're late, and the Mets are obviously discouraged by the low turnout.

I want to thank MLB for providing streaming video of a classical concert tomorrow night in honor of Mother's Day. This is much better than being able to see today's game on mlb.com. Of course, I'm paying for mlb.com to supplement Extra Innings and can't see the game on either, was looking forward to watching this game as I've missed the last five but it's blacked out even though it was listed in the weekly email. But hey, at least there's a violin concert on tomorrow night.

Holy crap--maybe I'm better off not seeing this one!

Clownish play by the Mets allows 2 runs, but the TV camerawork was terrific.

Nymr83

the local game is ALWAYS blocked out from what i remember. MLB.com only lets you watch out of town games.

Mets let 2 runs score on a popup and a rundown that took way too long.

I live out-of-town. Another 1:10 Saturday game was available a few weeks ago but the rules seem to be different this week.

Pelfrey is done 5 innings, 8 hits, 3 walks, 4 runs... he's doing his best to make sure Sosa sticks around when Hernandez comes back

The lineup in KC's picture:
Mets:
? RF (Cedeno?)
17 2B (Baerga?...leading me to think its 1998)
5 1B (Olerud)
31 C (Piazza)
? 3B (Ventura? 1999, Alfonzo -13- 1998)
11? CF no idea, maybe McCrae?
50 LF (Agbayani?)
10 SS (Ordonez)
23 P (Reed)

Since I'm positive 3-4 is Olerud-Piazza it has to be 1998-1999 (the only years they were both here)

Brewers pop Smith's cherry!

Now, unlike the U.S., he has an ERA.

I'm pretty sure after watching the World Baseball Classic that the U.S. has an ERA and not a very good one.

Did the "Bike to Shea" ride sponsored by the DOT. Valet bike parking at Shea!

Fundamentals problems:
1. Our outfielders need to learn how to call off our infielders on popups. Guy coming in has a better route than the infielder going out. Green not calling off Gotay cost us one run.

2. Poor, poor rundown execution cost us a second run.

3. Pelfrey does not know how to cover first properly. Seriously, not the first time this has happened. No excuse.

Strange:
1. Willie not letting Joe Smith finish the inning once the damage had been done.

2. We brought the infield in with a runner at third when the score was already 11-1. Seriously.

Frustrating:
Pelfrey's pitching. I wonder if he gets the boot to AAA and Sosa stays when El Duque comes off the DL.

Infuriating:
Parents who can't corral their children. I get that kids can be rambunctious at a game but it was out of control in my section today.

obviuosly i wasnt there to see what was going on, but i usually see plenty of unaccompanied teenagers or even adults behaving far worse than the children at Shea.

Judging by their performance today, the Mets apparently must think there is a ban on post game Schaefer.

I believe the lineup is:

Cedeno RF
Super Luis Lopez Ultra 2B
Olerud 1B
Piazza C
Alfonzo 3B
Hamilton CF
McRae LF
Ordonez SS
Mahomes P

which would make this 1998?

On the Dodgers side I think I see Karros at 1B and Adrian Beltre at 3B.

August 8, 1999: Dodgers 14, Mets 3!

Well, my guess wasn't that bad. I had Lopez (in for Alfonzo), but whiffed on No. 12 at 3B -- Dunston, in for Ventura.

At the moment that shot is taken the lineup is:
Cedeno RF
Lopez (in for Alonzo)
Olerud
Piazza
Dunston (in for Ventura)
Hamilton CF
Agbayani LF
Mahomes P

Rick Reed is bombed early and Yoshii proviodes no relief, so Mahomes is in there in through the 7th even though he gave up HRs to Raul F. Mondesi both times he faced him!

Mahomes is about to be PH for by Matt Franco, who will stay in the game in LF. Chuck McElroy will pitch the 8th in Cedeno's spot, sending Agbayani to RF.

That KC made it to the stretch of this game, and presumably watched yesterday's debacle, makes him the World's Greatest Fan, IMO.
