Wednesday 05/16 IGT vs Cubs

Rain delay theatre ... this one might be a while.
Already rained out in Boston.

Still no official word on Thursday's starter. Sounds like it's probably Vargas although the status of tonight's game might affect things.

Also still no decision on whether to DL Alou

If this is the same rainstorm that came through PA today (and it is) you guys may as well go to bed

Gotta be Pelfrey. Didn't you hear Willie on Saturday? If you had, you'd know there was no room even for doubt. Pelfrey's Willie's guy.

Anyone know anything about a projected start time? It's pretty damn nice
up here which isn't far as the crow flies.

When Howie broke off the radio broadcast, he said they expected to try playing around 9.

He's a filthy liar! He's EEEEEEEEEEEEEEVILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

seawolf17
May 16 2007 06:50 PM

Is he lying, or clueless? There's really no other option.

Johnny Dickshot
May 16 2007 07:22 PM

I'm either lying or clueless but it's not raining anymore.

Theriot
Floyd
Soriano
Ramirez
Ward
Barrett
Jones
Izturas
Hill

Reyes
Easley
Beltran
Delgado
Wright
LoDuca
Green
Gomez LF
Sosa

Hill was the starter vs. the Natz when I saw the Cubs last Saturday. Lefty with decent stuff but they eventually got to them.

10:30ish start with a gay dame tomorrow, could get interesting.

I think the 6AM rewind show on SNY is more in my future.

soupcan
May 16 2007 08:24 PM

And it begins.

1 out 1st inning BB to Floyd, but the Cubbies strand him.

To the bottom of the first we go...

soupcan
May 16 2007 08:32 PM

Une, deux, trois bottom of the first for Les Mets.

The game may not be over by then.

LoDuca & Green - B2B 2-out hits in the 2nd.

Gomez swaggers to the plate....

soupcan
May 16 2007 08:45 PM

And it drops in behind first base!

1-0 Mets.

First career RBI for Gomez.

Green to third.

Sosa whiffs to end the second.

Frayed Knot
May 16 2007 08:47 PM

MLB RBI #1 for Carlos #3

We lead the league in Carli

May 16 2007 08:54 PM

Sosa quiets TheRiot

Rockin' Doc
May 16 2007 08:59 PM

Top of the order due up for the bottom of the 3rd. Let's get him on this second time through.

soupcan
May 16 2007 09:01 PM

1st and 2nd 1 out.

Carlos #2 up...

soupcan
May 16 2007 09:03 PM

BB to Delgado.

Sacks drunk, ducks on the pond, bases juiced for Mr. Wright.

Johnny Dickshot
May 16 2007 09:04 PM

Loaded up for D.W.

Johnny Dickshot
May 16 2007 09:05 PM

Ugly but effective. We got screwed by that play recently.

Johnny Dickshot
May 16 2007 09:07 PM

Wow, double steal. Willie is out-geniusing Lou here.

Batty31
May 16 2007 09:12 PM

I just put the game on now since I figured they would call it when it didn't start and 9 and I didn't want to miss Lost! I think I'll be recording the rewind tomorrow morning as well. Thanks everyone for the game summary so far...

Keith's dead right. That pitch that David singles on is a pitch he used to go to right-center with.

That's what the problem was a the beginning of the year. The guy wasn't right but it was hard to tell because he was still dropping singles in.

Rockin' Doc
May 16 2007 09:34 PM

Wright steals second to get himself in scoring position with one out in the fifth and LoDuca at the plate.

Edgy DC
May 16 2007 09:44 PM

Sosa-Lacious.

Rockin' Doc
May 16 2007 09:45 PM

Sosa is wheelin' and dealin' tonight. he sets the Cubs down 1-2-3 in the 6th.

Gomez, Sosa, and Reyes due up for the Mets in the home half.

Rockin' Doc
May 16 2007 09:50 PM

Sosa draws a one out walk. Make him pay Jose.

Edgy DC
May 16 2007 10:02 PM

Well, the Cubs get a runner in scoring position.

Not a lot of Chicago threats this evening.

Edgy DC
May 16 2007 10:04 PM

Sosa is just. damn. nasty.

Rockin' Doc
May 16 2007 10:10 PM

It's great isn't it.

Edgy DC
May 16 2007 10:10 PM

OK, two on for Wright.

Edgy DC
May 16 2007 10:13 PM

Five-zip.

I can't be the only one watching this naked.

Edgy DC
May 16 2007 10:14 PM

Six.

Hah!

Rockin' Doc
May 16 2007 10:15 PM

I was with you right up to the last word.

Wright has got his bat going of late, now if Delgado can get a hot streak.

Edgy DC
May 16 2007 10:17 PM

Leadoff batter walks and we have an Angel Pagan sighting.

Batty31
May 16 2007 10:24 PM

I was going to comment of the odd nature of the name Angel Pagan. Contradicts itself.

Floyd breaks up the shut out.

Edgy DC
May 16 2007 10:40 PM

Reyes coming up a mite lame and is pinch run for.

Unhappy times.

Batty31
May 16 2007 10:53 PM

Kevin Burkhardt just said that Reyes was feeling some tightness and took himself out as a precautionary measure. He is walking around in the clubhouse right now and seems to be ok.

This is an "unofficial" report, so Reyes' status could still change. Let's keep our fingers crossed..

Someone had to represent the CPF for this 3+ hour rain delay and I didn't want to let the team down. Glad I brought a book however.

Anyway, after much delayage and a very nice self upgrade (first row of the loge boxes right behind the plate) it turned out to be a fun game.

Easley's homer appeared to clear the back wall of the visitors bullpen. I believe it was estimated at 431 feet, IIRC.

Sosa got a very nice reception from the crowd after Willie took him out in the 8th.

Ticketholders to tonight's game, if there are any out there, can mail them in for free tix to one of the Twins games.

soupcan
May 17 2007 07:23 AM

I flat passed out about the 5th inning.

Nice to see Sosa pitching like Pelfrey was supposed to.

Any further word on Reyes?

Should I put in a call to Mackey Shillstone?

Benjamin Grimm
May 17 2007 07:24 AM

I think Mackey Shillstone is down at the Water Buffalo Lodge with Fred, Barney, and Joe Rockhead.

No, it's after 9:00 now - if he's not at the quarry, Mr. Slate will have his hide.
