Hopefully we can get this one in before Joe Torre's brother dies.

Did I type that or just think that?

According to that lineup, we better tell the lefties to pull and the righties to go the other way.

I don't know why you're so attracted to this foolish position. He could just have easily been clueless. "Mike and Chris, I tell you and you can put it in the bank, because I am a decisive, forthright, highly cerebral leader, winner , and deciderer, even if I do say so myself, that this shall be done. To so say, and then to do otherwise, would suggest that I don;t have a fucking clue to my name, so rather than explain that I'm still thinking about it to you, I shall declare: the die has been cast, and let those you dare mock me for indecisive shillyshallying do so if I should go back on this, my sacred word. So let it be written, so let it be done! Selah!"

Doing some cleaning while watching the game, and I just dragged up my completely authentic* Mo Vaughn jersey. Amazin' what you can get for twenty bucks on clearance.

Perez leads off the home 3rd with a bloop hit. Funny swing, serious results.

*- Aside from the fact that mine is shirt-sized, not tarp-sized.

Batty31

So were you making use of the Vaughn jersey while cleaning? It would make a good dust rag.

Wagneurysm [wag-nyuh-riz-uhm]
- noun
a permanent cardiac or arterial dilatation usually caused by weakening of the vessel wall caused by Billy Wagner entering a close game and beginning to walk people or fall behind early, usually resulting in a blown save or close-to

Only cure for that is a 7-run 8th inning.

Which reminds me that the next called strike against Jeter that he agrees with will be his first.

Gwreck
May 18 2007 09:30 PM

Crowd was..eh. 75% Mets fans. Aside from the Matsui HR, they didn't have much to cheer about.

I was supposed to have my Oliver Perez t-shirt for tonight but the mlb.com shop fucked up and sent me a blank t-shirt. Really wanted to have had it tonight, especially with another great outing.

Much love for the Endy. Expected to see the curtain call but it didn't happen. Aside from Easley's homer in the bottom of the 10th to tie, I don't think we've had a curtain call all season.

Johnny Dickshot
May 18 2007 09:33 PM

I was getting some laffs over the MFY board and the terrible home plate umpiring is one of the major themes tonight.

Bust mostly, a sense of despair that many of them never fathomed they'd experience:

Mark19:
]This just isn't our season. Each humiliation is worse than the one before it. Giving up hits to the pitcher, now giving up HRs to the defensive replacement

CyYoung4Vasquez:
]Seriously WTF is with this season. Honestly what the F is happening

DaYanks24:
]I can't put into words how happy I am the Yankees signed Damon instead of Beltran. Yet another fantastic move by Cashman.

Yankee in CT:
]That's it. I plan to do other things this weekend that watch this pathetic team.

my favorite, from jglaubman:
]Joe FREAKING Smith should not be getting close calls against DEREK JETER!!!!!

jimmykey2:
]And Oliver Perez shouldn' have a wider strike zone than Andy Pettitte.

Montyque:
]Worst strike call I've ever seen.

That's fuckin classic....so Joe should have more service before he gets those calls?

Maybe Jeter is a future HOFer but I wish Ron and Keith and the studio guys would stop refering to him as such every time they mention him.

It's weird but my feeling after the game was one of relief, like we can't get swept now at least...that's fucking stupid because we have the better team.

Johnny Dickshot
May 19 2007 09:40 AM

Looking back, had to be awfully frustrating for MFY fans. Pettitte pitched great and never gives up HRs to LH batters but it was only one mistake. Their guys hit several balls hard but right at gloves, and if Damon isn't such a meathead they probably put up a crooked number in the first. Proctor was fine.

May 19 2007 09:42 AM

Pettitte on the YES post-game said he thought Endy was going to bunt right there.....

I should add that it sounded like Pettitte never even thought that Chavez would be doing anything other than bunting, which of course was a mistake.

Had a blast. Coming from CT we chose to MetroNorth/Subway instead of driving. Going in that was the right call, coming home maybe not so much as the game ended at 9:30 and we didn't get home til 12:00. Had we driven I would've been in my bed by 11:00 at the latest.

Strawberry, was in the VIP seats on the field. He seemed very accomodating, siging autographs for anyone who asked. Kristen Chenowith is a cute little thing. Leather thigh-high boots might have had something to do with that. Mayor Bloomberg sitting second row behind the plate instead of the box on the field. Wonder if Rudy advised him to buy those seats?

ND's throw to get Damon in the first was just awesome and took the crowd from low to high in a millisecond. Had a loud obnoxious Yankee fan behind me who strangly disappeared pretty much right after ND's dinger. That's the one bad thing about my seats. Its such a transient crowd, never the same people around you from game to game and always lots of Yankee fans at these games in those seats. I'm not complaining though, the view doesn't suck.

I had a co-worker stop by to say hello on Tuesday night and although she's heard me talk about how I love my ticket plan and the seats I have, I don't think she really got it until she came by to say "hi" and would up with the revelation "wow, it's like that scene from Fever Pitch, how do you know all these people?" And it's true. Everybody renewed from last year, so we've got the twenty-something twin sisters who sit next to us who always keep score, the family behind us who have twin redheaded boys, about 14-15 who never stop talking about the game (one of whom reminds me of me when I was that age), the guy on the other side with his curmudgeon father (I love talking to him), the two guys in the row in front who are always there, etc.

The point: of course, we had a bunch of Yankee fans around us last night, which changed the atmosphere some. Funniest moment was the idiot who threw the ketchup and managed only to hit another Yankees fan.

Kid Carsey
May 19 2007 11:43 AM

We had a great group in 2000 at my seats. People would watch out for your
stuff when ya get up, we bought and sold tix from each other so you could
bring bigger groups, we drank champagne when the NLCS was won, we did
the quick hug and cry thing while the Yanks were humping on our infield.

I miss those guys and that time in my fandom. We all moved our seats to
better locations the next year and I haven't seen any of them since early 2001.
