Shout and Ruling the World are their best known, but I went with Sowing the Seeds as the best TFF song...and the best Beatles ripoff.

Um,I kinda hate to admit this but I like them all....I'll vote for "woman in chains"...beautiful song.

Not sure as to which Beatles song it sounds like.

Songs from the Big Chair is one of my all-time favorite albums. I voted for "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." The cover of "Mad World" on the Donnie Darko soundtrack is a perfect match of music to film. "Sowing the Seeds" is the only song I'd consider a Beatles' ripoff and the only song listed that I don't like.

I'd agree "Sowing" is the most Beatle-y song, and not my favorite either.

I was driving, by myself, though mountains, in California, in 1998, when "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" came on the radio, and eventually got me to re-examine this group 15 years after I'd completely dismissed them as a fagadoodle chick band. That little syncopated guitar solo is just gorgeous.

Second place doesn't count but "Break it Down," is a pretty cool song too.

I meant to choose the miserable "Mad World" (soundtrack of my moping years, yo), but instead inexplicably clicked "Head over Heels," two choices away. I suck and I'm moving to Florida, where that sort of suckitude flies.

"Sowing" is so grossly ripped-off. The band disappeared for years and finally followed up Big Chair with something empty of originality.

I usually defend Beatle sound-alikes --- Monkees, Oasis, Lenny Kravitz --- on the grounds that the Beatles stuck with most of their sounds so briefly that they're still good jumping off points for otherwise-new stuff. "Sowing," though, culled everything from somewhere else. A smorgasbord of bad cheese.

Patti Smith does a good version of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" on her new album of covers.

Searched "ripping the Beatles off" in Google and most of the results are about Oasis, with a few mentions of the Rolling Stones.

Speaking of the Donnie Darko Soundtrack...I just heard Pavement's cover of Killing Moon for the first time today. Killing Moon is a great song.

Echo has a satchel of great songs.

I voted for "Sowing the Seeds of Love". I always have loved that song. When I was working as a radio DJ, we had an extended version of this song and I used to play it when I needed a bathroom break (Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street was another common choice).

I'm in the minority here, but I think the cover of "Mad World" is a disgrace "Mad World" is one of the most moving songs I ever heard. They totally killed the mood of the song.

TransMonk, I love Echo and the Bunnymen...do you think I'd like the Pavement cover?

Well, it sounds exactly like what it is...Pavement playing Killing Moon, but they don't really mess with the structure of the song that much. It doesn't even compare to the Echo version, but if you dig Pavement, you should check it out.

I do like Pavement, so I will check it out. I'm just glad to hear they didn't butcher it. Thanks.
