IGT - Subway Series I - Game 3

Kid Carsey

Boston got a late start on the spankin', but they're taking care of the
Braves again. If that holds up, and the Mets can sweep, ol' Steingrabber
might just have an embolism tomorrow morning.

The Tigers have completed a sweep over the Cards in their World Series rematch.

The Brews, since losing two of three to us'm, have lost three of four to the Phils and two of three to the Twinks. If we finish this thing, a statement will have been made. We'll be the top team in the league and the hottest team in the league.

And I know he never had a good arm, but that throw to the plate on the tag yesterday, on a shallow fly...oh my.

You see em comin at you every night!
Strung on pretension they fall for you at first sight

You know their business --- you think its a bore
They make you restless --- its nothin you ain't seen before

Get around town, spend your time on the run!
You never let down, say you do it for fun!
Never miss a play, though you make quite a few!
You give it all away...
...when everybody wants you!

You crave attention --- you can never say no
Throw your affections anyway the wind blows

You always make it --- youre on top of the scene
You sell the copy like the cover of a magazine

Puttin' on the eyes 'til theres nobody else!
You never realize what you do to yourself!
The things that they see make the daily reviews!
You never get free...
...when everybody wants you!

Everybody knows you!
Everybody snows you!
Everybody needs you...! leads you...! bleeds you!

Nights of confusion and impossible dreams
Days at the mirror, patchin up around the seams

You got your glory --- you paid for it all
You take your pension out in loneliness and alcohol

Say goodbye to conventional ways!
You cant escape the hours --- you lose track of the days!
The more you understand, seems the more like you do!
You never get away...
...everybody wants you!

Engine running hotter than a boiling kettle

Itchy trigger finger but a stable turntable
I do what I do best because I'm illing and able
Ain't no faking your money, I'm taking
Going coast to coast watching all the girlies shaking
While you're at the job working nine to five
The Beastie Boys at the Garden cold kickin' it live

No sleep till..

Another place, another train
Another bottle, in the brain
Another girl, another fight
Another drive, all night

Our manager's crazy; he always smokes dust
He's got his own room at the back of the bus
Tour around the world; you rock around the clock
Plane to hotel, girls on the jock
We're thrashing hotels like it's going out of style
Gettin'paid along the way 'cause it's worth your while
Four on the floor; Ad Rock's out the door
MCA's in the back because he's skeezin' with a whore
We got a safe in the trunk with money in a stack
With dice in the front and Brooklyn's in the back

(White boys' got more rhymes)

No sleep till..

No.. Sleep.. 'til Brooklyn!
No.. Sleep.. 'til Brooklyn!

Ain't seen the light since we started this band
So MCA get on the mic, my man
Born and bred Brooklyn, the USA
They call me Adam Yauch but I'm MCA
Like a lemon to a lime a lime to a lemon
I sip the def ale with all the fly women
Got limos, arena, the TV shows
Autograph pictures and classy hos
Step off homes, get out of my way
Taxing little girlies form here to LA
Waking up before I get to sleep
Cause I'll be rocking this party eight days a week

No sleep till..

No.. Sleep.. 'til Brooklyn!
No.. Sleep.. 'til Brooklyn!
No! (No!) Sleep! (Sleep!) 'til Brooklyn! (Brooklyn!)

Geddy, I need you.

Sprawling on the fringes of the city
In geometric order
An insulated border
In between the bright lights
And the far unlit unknown

Growing up it all seems so one-sided
Opinions all provided
The future pre-decided
Detached and subdivided
In the mass production zone
Nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone

Subdivisions
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out
Subdivisions
In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out
Any escape might help to smooth the unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth

Drawn like moths we drift into the city
The timeless old attraction
Cruising for the action
Lit up like a firefly
Just to feel the living night

Some will sell their dreams for small desires
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight
Somewhere out of a memory of lighted streets on quiet nights...

Subdivisions
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out
Subdivisions
In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out
Any escape might help to smooth the unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth

Let's make Rivera throw about a million-teen pitches this inning and fuck him up for the Boston series.

Two outs.

We need Scutar-Power.

Easley does it again. That will give Rivera something to think about in Boston.

Twenty-three pitches by Rivera also.

Franco's going to be 50 by the time he gets that bat through the zone.

Should've mentioned that Scutar-Power only applies to second basemen.

Should we put Easley on notice for swinging for the fences when the teams five runs down?

Two Out of Three Ain't Bad

Baby we can talk all night
But that ain't getting us nowhere
I told you everything I possibly can
There's nothing left inside of here

And maybe you can cry all night
But that'll never change the way I feel
The snow is really piling up outside
I wish you wouldn't make me leave here

I poured it on and I poured it out
I tried to show you just how much I care
I'm tired of words and I'm too hoarse to shout
But you've been cold to me so long
I'm crying icicles instead of tears

And all I can do is keep on telling you
I want you
I need you
But there ain't no way
I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad
Now don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad

You'll never find your gold on a sandy beach
You'll never drill for oil on a city street
I know you're looking for a ruby
In a mountain of rocks
But there ain't no Coupe de Ville hiding
At the bottom of a Cracker Jack box

I can't lie
I can't tell you that I'm something I'm not
No matter how I try
I'll never be able to give you something
Something that I just haven't got

There's only one girl that I will ever love
And that was so many years ago
And though I know I'll never get her out of my heart
She never loved me back, ooh I know
I remember how she left me on a stormy night
She kissed me and got out of our bed
And though I pleaded and I begged her
Not to walk out that door
She packed her bags and turned right away

And she kept on telling me
She kept on telling me
She kep on telling me
I want you
I need you
But there ain't no way
I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad
Don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad

Baby we can talk all night
But that ain't getting us nowhere

I don't think he was. Just a nice swing dat's all.

agreed Doc.

Aint bad at all.
And Atl lost.

But I just had a horrible night fantasy baseball wise here_
Maines one of my starters, Rivera one of my closers.
Got bad stuff from both. :(

Eh. I'm dissatisfied.

Nice win Friday but the offense didn't really show up. Yesterday we got off to a huge lead only to see 'em ruin thousands of perfectly good Fruit of the Looms. Tonighht we got neither pitching nor hitting.

Just attempting some humor by referencing an old thread (which must have been on EZBoard because I can't find it).

Short story: Mets down by 5 at the Phillies and Cliff Floyd hits a three-run homer. Most of us are like "Yay Mets" but one cranky dude put Floyd on notice for killing the rally.

that might have been me, if so it wasnt "killing the rally" that i was killing him for, it was swinging at a 3-0 pitch inthe 9th inning when he couldnt even tie the game.

Decided yesterday to go tonight -- last game of the homestand, chance for the sweep -- oops.

The three critical moments -- in increasing order of importance -- in the game:

3. Reyes striking out looking in the 7th with 2nd and 3rd. Last/best chance to get back in the game.

2. Reys flying out in the 2nd with bases loaded. We shoulda touched up Clippard for about 4 runs that inning.

1. Maine walks Mientkiewicz on FOUR PITCHES with one out in the top of the 4th. Sorry, but you have to throw Mientkiewicz a fucking strike in that situation. He makes an out, you've got the pitcher due up next and you can get out of the inning. No excuse there.

7-3 homestand is good, considering that we'd basically been .500 at home previously.

Misc.
The Yankees did not "retake" New York with a win tonight. That's just silly.

Assuming (and that's a very big assumption) that the Yankees rebound this year and make the playoffs, tonight will not be the turning point. That's somewhere far beyond silly.

So fucking true......not that I beleive it

Joe Morgan is a riot, anything can happen when a team makes the playoffs, but he doesn't believe it's a crap shoot...that would mean agreeing with Billy Beane.

It's nights like last night I wish Seaver were around to explain a pitchers motion...

Did you guys hear Joe Morgan's ridiculous discussion about Farnsworth's comments regarding Clemens. In Joe's opinion, Farnsworth had every right to say what he said as a member of the team, but since he doesn't know Clemens and has never played with him like some of the other guys, he really shouldn't have said what he said. After all, Joe Torre asked people on the team about it and Farnsworth doesn't matter because he's not a significant member of the team. And Torre through his experience, would never do anything to cause division within a team because he knows everyone matters.

Yeah I thought that whole Fransworth thing was BS,Gammons fairly hammeered him for speaking up...wasn't he the one who said Fransworth was not a significant part of the team.

Exactly. I'm more concerned over consecutive ineffective outings by Maine than I am by a failure to finish off a sweep of the Yankees.

But I'm not overly concerned about Maine yet either. He's entitled to a down spell, and I'd rather he have it now than in September or October.
