Looks like Gomez started in right, got hurt on a play at first
(called out, but of course Blue got that wrong) and then New-
han came in to play left and Chavez went to right?

What was that I heard you saying about Carlos Delgado?

Oh yeah, I think it was

Pitcher is all riled up. Take advantage my hearties!

Why are the Mets playing without a second baseman? Maybe Willie really is clueless.

Mets leading 4-1 through three innings.

Yeah, in my haste and then the lineup change, I only had eight guys up there
for the Mets and Easley in lf to boot. I think it's right now, but I got a lot of
sun today.

Also the Marlins lineup got announced by the Marlins' cheerleaders.

Carlos Delgado is breaking out the whoopin' stick tonight. Hopefully, he's finding his groove.

Mets lead 7-2 through six innings.

Carlos Delgado has two home runs and it's awfully quite here. I guess everyone is off enjoying the long weekend.

Newhan, for what it's worth, just ran down an Almezaga drive that Alou would've waived at.

Pedro back tonight?

Elsewhere around Major League baseball, the Angels defeated the Yankees by a score of 3-1. The Angels scored 3 runs against Chien-Ming Wang in the first inning on a 2 run triple by Gary Matthews, Jr. and an RBI single by Casey Kotchman. That was all the support Kelvin Escobar needed to get the victory.

The Phillies spoiled the major league debut of Braves starter, Buddy Carlyle. The Phillies plated 5 runs against Carlyle who failed to get out of the fifth inning. The Phillies went on to win by a score of 6-4.

It's been awfully quiet here for an awfully long time. 50 games into the season and postings are waaaaay down.

We need an infusion of Zvon/Valadius and some of the old timers...where's SK and her brood?

DocTee - "...where's SK and her brood?"

I have a feeling that may be a long story. I know she was busy with school.

Seems to me that even some of the old stalwarts are less "talkative"..

According to the Marlins announcers, the Marlins have the following "bests in baseball":

-- fans
-- grounds crew

And that was in less than 2 innings.

Zvon has drooped by a few times recently. Valdius seldom stops by. He went to school at Georgetown University and must have actually taken his studies seriously. Many others may be traveling this holiday weekend. I don't think SK has posted since sometime in March.

Those great ("best") Marlin fans are often disguised as empty stadium seats.

What's more of a faux pas?:

- Reyes running with the Mets up 7-2.

- The Fish following with an intentional walk to Beltran.

Do it again, Carlos.

There are always some posters who--meteorlike--burst onto the scene amid great fanfare and then fade away. Remember Fillet Milan? That guy was great.

Seriously, anybody volunteering to chair the membership committee, I'm all ears.

I invited a Met fan from South Carolina, whom I met at a recent conference, to stop by-- not sure if he has given it a second thought.

Filet Milan was an alternate handle of a once very regular poster from the old MOFO days. He was always worth reading, but he hasn't posted much in the last several years. He also posted under the names Joe Tundra, Joe Tumbleweed, and ardnuT.

Mets leading 7-2 through 8.

Not mentioned here: Jose Valentin, in the dugout, visiting with his teammates much like Pedro visited Friday.

Well, except for the lack of Pedro dance moves and constant camera attention he got.
