no Met game on memorial day seems like gross negligence on the part of the schedule makers.

Also odd that the MFYs are playing a night game in Toronto leaving New York baseball-less on Memorial Day.

I remember that being the case for the past couple of years. no baseball in NY on memorial day. dunno what that's all about. Maybe those other cities need the NY draw to get more people into their seats, and so ny makes that concession?

Plus there are only 5 afternoon games total. On a day that used to feature classic style double headers!

I don't think they're intentionally sterring games away from NYC, it's just that it's tougher to make a sked that's all clean & tidy these days and the main culprit is inter-league play plus the odd number of divisions and the differeing number of teams within each division.

Toronto gets a home game on an American holiday. Good planning. I bet Toronto is playing at Anaheim on Canada Day if they follow the same logic/

A few years back, I recall ESPN and ESPN 2 showing three games a piece on Memorial Day-- this year, none.

This was mentioned on ESPN radio. The host(s) said that they had mentioned the absence of baseball in NY on Memorial Day to Selig last year and he said he would remedy that this year. Guess baseball fans in New York are less important to him than baseball fans in Toronto. Later

The problem being that the Mets had a home game last year on Memorial Day.

I don't even care that the game isn't in NY (though either the Mets or yankees should be here on a holiday) I'm annoyed that there is no Met game at all to watch

I forgot there wasn't a game today and kept checking the TV listings. I thought it was odd there wasn't a game on Memorial Day as well! All the local news channels were showing highlights from yesterday's game since there was nothing else to talk about!

Well, at least the Yankees lost again. Toronto beat them 7-2 behind a dominant performance from right hander Dustin McGowan. The victory was McGowan's first as a starter since August 9th, 2005. Entering Monday's outing vs. the Yankees, McGowan (1-2) was 1-7 with a 7.52 ERA in 14 career starts for Toronto.
