The Ramones

I was listening to my iPod this afternoon and "Howling at the Moon (Sha-la-la)" came on. That's an awesome song, it should have been a big hit.

Anyhow, I rocked out to it while walking around an eerily empty Boston. It was a good day.

Excellent tune, Willets. I'm impressed.

Any day spent listening to The Ramones is a good day. :)

I saw the Ramones open up for Pearl Jam oddly enough, on PJ's anit-Ticketmaster tour in 97-ish (it was after "Adios Amigos"). I saw them in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the college's basketball arena, if I remember right. The Ramones aren't really a 15,000 seat arena kinda band, but they blistered though like 300 songs in a half hour and whipped the kids into a mosh-pit frenzy.

Not much talk except for the "1-2-3-4" to start every song.

Wow..the Ramones and Pearl Jam? That is a very odd combination!

My first concert ever was the Ramones with David Johansen opening up (before he was Buster Poindexter). They were playing at a dinky college at my town. I was 13 at the time and totally blown away by their performance. They didn't talk much then either, but they didn't need to. I remember they had the entire audience standing on their chairs. It really was an amazing show.

I saw the Ramones in 1979 at a free concert outside of San Francisco City Hall. Was the hottest day of the year and everyone was jampacked and they came out in their leather jackets which seemed frickin' impossible. Of course, they ruled.

Yeah, a little odd, but I know Vedder and Johnny Ramone were very close friends and Pearl Jam liked to bring peeps they're close with on the road with them even if the lineup didn't make the most sense. I like that about them. Don't know if their friendship dates back that far, or if that's where it was born, but they (both of them) rocked it steady that night.

Lazy Pearl Jam question: Wickipedia has a long list of songs covered by
Pearl Jam including several Ramones songs. Is Daytime Dilemma (The
Dangers of Love)
on any albums or is it something you'd have to track
down on a bootleg or something?

It's not on any of the studio albums, not sure if it turned up in any of their bootlegs. I've got just one and it's not on it.

All Music Guide has Vedder doing that song on the 2003 album "We're a Happy Family: A Tribute to the Ramones".

I thought it might be on "Lost Dogs" but it's not, looks like Seo found the only disc it's on.
