For making my start date read as it does. There have been many, many screw ups associated with my account (multiple "Hail, Seaver" posts, crazy "military time" issues, etc) but I love the idea that I've been a member of the 'Pool since the last day of 1969.
As it happens, I know exactly where I spent that day, I've even written about that day in a memoir, one of the saddest, most conflicted, tension-and-guilt-provoking days anyone has ever had. I can tell you the full name of the 17-year-old high school senior with whom I spent the last few hours of that fateful day, and what she was wearing (and not-wearing), and what we did (and did not do) when her parents left us in their house alone (but I won't) and the bullshit story I had to tell my dad to spend the night out of my own house. It's a totally vivid memory. So: thanks.
