Whole ton of extra cash lying around?

Mets Foundation Reception and Charity Auction on July 21 in Greenwich. Info is here: [url=http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/nym/community/teammates_evening.jsp]Link[/url] The big question: if money were no object, which of these auction items would would you pick? 1. Shag flies with Carlos Beltran in centerfield 2. Hitting clinic with Carlos Delgado 3. Round of golf with Tom Glavine 4. Spanish lesson from "Professor" Jose Reyes 5. Pitching clinic with Scott Schoeneweis 6. Take Billy Wagner to school 7. "Pick your position" and play baseball with David Wright (I assume #6 is for a kid to take him for show-and-tell). -- For me, I think Delgado might be the most interesting to chat with, but since I was always more of a glove man than a hitter, I'd choose the Beltran one.

There are individuals that would argue that perhaps Carlos Delgado is not the best one to be offering a hitting clinic. Perhaps he could have Schoeneweis do the pitching in order to help assure a successful outcome to one's lesson.

Definitely Professor Jose Reyes. Although it's tempting to choose unlisted option 8, "Cruise Bars Picking Up Underage Women with Paul LoDuca."

In all sriousness, I would choose to dust off my glove and take a few grounders at the hot corner with David Wright. My second choice would be the pitching clinic with Scott Schoeneweis. I never was a pitcher, but the nuances of how to throw various breaking balls has always been intriguing to me.

No. However, as a major league pitcher he certainly has the knowledge of how the various pitches are thrown, he just lacks somewhat on the execution. The one thing I never really did much during my time playing baseball was pitch, so I find the mechanics of it fascinating.

I'd go for the hitting clinic with Delgado,I would think he would be a most interesting person to chat with about "other" stuff,of course he might say stick to the hitting.

Since my school and playing days are over, and my wife speaks Spanish, I'll go with the round of golf with Tom Glavine. I get to spend about 4-5 hours picking the brain of a rather intelligent guy who will just happen to be enshrined in Cooperstown when his career is over. He could also answer the question: who's slower, Sid Bream or Carlos Delgado?

Glavine also is an excellent golfer, ranked by Golf Digest as the 52nd-best golfer among athletes from other sports, with a 2.7 handicap.

Yancy, I doubt that would require a whole ton of cash. Two bucks, buy her a drink, and tell her she's pretty and you have likely spent more than you would need to.

I would choose #1 (shag flies with Beltran) because it sounds the least dangerous. Delgado might cause me to get carpel tunnel; I might get my teeth knocked out in a golf cart accident with Glavine; I could bruise my tongue trying to speak Spanish with Jose; I could tear my labrum chucking fastballs with Scotty; Wagner would probably get us in a playground fight; and I could put on some made skills for Wright and put him into a fielding funk, like he got into a hitting funk after the all-star game. Plus, I could get an up-close look at that blueberry on the side of Beltran's head.

According to press releases, $277,000 was raised by the auction. On SNY's pre-game show, it was mentioned that the Schoneweis pitching clinic went for $19,000 (and included a pair of Duke basketball tickets to boot).
