I like our "G's" at the end of the lineup better than their "C's"

How'd ya like the "G" that pitched yesterday?

Kid Carsey
Jun 17 2007 05:26 PM

I don't recall him getting an AB.

He was just about as bad as their "C" (who got demoted right after the game)

OUCH!
LoDuca plunked in the 1st.

he's probably the weak link right now... and yet they'll probably demote/bullpen Sosa when Pedro is eventually ready even if he keeps pitching well.

Kid Carsey
Jun 17 2007 06:31 PM

There are few "G" fans on this board, but thinking he could have been
demoted early this season (or should have) is just unrealistic bbbyyy.

Of course, ny likes to rub Sal's belly, so whatever. "G" is part of the
plan ... like it or not (most of us haven't from the get go).

I think that was the 1st homer Ive seen A-Rod hit as a Yankee where he didnt look over at his bench right after the swing for praise and/or approval.

I rushed home from JFK for this....come on you Mets......Joe Morgan knew all along that Clemens wouldn;t do amything to hurt the team...must be great to always be right.

More importantly, must he always reinforce his right minded thinking by repeating whatever it was he thinks he was right about right after he thinks what he said was right happens?

I was thinking Brian Bannister or Derek Lowe starts myself.

Kid Carsey

Clearly, they were options.

Zvon

Delgados killin me.
In my Metfan heart of hearts as well as on my fantasy baseball team.

Hey--Val hits a double!
Things are looking up--Green pops up.
Inning over.

Skanks up, 5-0 after 4 and one half.

Frayed Knot

Every baserunner that Hernandez has put on tonight (except one) has scored.

Kid Carsey
Jun 17 2007 07:38 PM

I'm giving up the ghost after six innings, I'm dog tired and
this is kinda painful to watch.

What happened to LoDuca?

Johnny Dickshot
Jun 17 2007 08:23 PM

He was hit by a pitch in the 1st and looked hurt but stayed in for awhile.

I saw this game headed for the shark tank when Gotay couldn't gather in Jeter's gatherinable single in the first. I'm punishing myself for being a Met fan by leaving it on.

"contusion of the triceps" (bruised upper arm) due to a 1st inning HBP

Zvon
Jun 17 2007 08:29 PM

Great diving grab on the Jeter grounder down the 3rd baseline by that youngster David Wright, who jumps up and throws him out by a pinstripe.

DocTee
Jun 17 2007 08:31 PM

Pete Rose would've beaten that out.

These 2-strike home runs must be why Heilman is in the janitor's closet.

Frayed Knot

Not to mention that he continues his 2007 tradition of allowing everyone he puts on base to score.

Wagner is pushing hard for a Lidge trade,Gammons words, they are best friends apparently.

Frayed Knot
Jun 17 2007 09:05 PM

I actually think Lidge coming here is a possibility ... at least it has a better chance of happening than most trade rumors.

Let me put it this way.
If the Mets go after Brad Lidge, who can't pitch (anymore, for who knows what reason) on the little stage he currently plays on, and expect him to come thru on the big stage, that is New York, I may be forced to start phollowin the Phils.

If they do go for Lidge, they may as well go for a left fielder like Pat Burrell too, who plays left like a little leaguer.

Johnny Dickshot
Jun 17 2007 09:08 PM

Way to snap that hitting streak, David.

I don't get why St.Joe took Wang out....oh Myers has great numbers against Delgado, but who doesn't lately,Peterson could do a job on Lidge.

Here,here!

Torre took Wang out so he could get a standing O from the crowd.

At least, that's my theory. He did have like 115 pitches at the time, but there were two outs.

Everything at Yankee stadium is at least 500x worse when we're losing. Strangely, this was the first time I've ever been there for a Mets-Yankees game and we've been losing during the game (there was a Giambi walkoff double against Looper, but that was just at the end).

Worst loss of the year? Maybe.

That's my theory too although Torre says otherwise. Claims it was the pitch count and that he had decided all along to pull him if/when it got to Delgado.

Doing it for the standing O is a P.O.S. move IMO. I don't really consider it to be rubbing it in, but are we contesting a sporting event here or running a game show? Maybe an 'Applause' sign like they have in TV studios is in order (although I guess scoreboard demands to CLAP are pretty much the same thing).

Gee, and we wonder why games don't get finished in under 3 hours.

That can be the only reason why Torre took Wang out,I've not read any papers today nor to I intend to so I've not seen any stupid reason from Torre.
