Hiho Silva v. Johnny Maine

I'm sure he didn;t mean to but Francessa madee an apt analogy this morning: No rocking chairs for the Mets this summer.

So I want all of you to get out of your chairs...

Really,a Mets team that's in top form would hammer a guy like Silva...so lets fucking hammer him, past history suggests he gives up the long ball.

His splits at Shea are not good, smallish sample though.

I'd like to remind you all that this will be my 3rd trip to Shea this season. The first two were walkoff wins.

Tonight I'd prefer a win that was never in doubt from the first inning on.

the fantastic thing is ...

that DESPITE our being terrible for the last 3 weeks, we're still in the lead. There's a lot to be said for that, A LOT.

Lineup looks good to me. Let's beat these fuckers.

I agree with duan, they're lucky to still be in first. Time to stop playing with
their heads up their asses and have a good home stand.

Carlos y Carlos - wake up NOW!!!

I'd much rather have Valentin in left, Gotay at second.

Carlos goes KABOOM!

1-0 good guys in the 2nd.

A swinging bunt for a hit that would've gone foul.

But on the other hand the runner was out clearly. Like ridiculously clearly.

Umps blow the call at first in the top of 3. Hopefully, that won't bite us in the ass.

Verducci said in that article where he worked as an ump that only four calls were wrong all year at first last year.

Well I saw that game at Washington. I guess this is five for this year.

Elster88
Jun 18 2007 05:51 PM

At least Beltran hit a hard ground ball that time.

Elster88
Jun 18 2007 06:04 PM

Delgado getting hits. I don't like him pulling low outside changeups into right though.

Elster88
Jun 18 2007 06:05 PM

Look out now. We got offense. Green going the other way to the base of the wall.

Jun 18 2007 06:11 PM

Wow. A 2-out single to the #8 hitter on a 2-0 count?!?

TransMonk
Jun 18 2007 06:28 PM

Holy Kubel! That was one of the better outfield grabs I've seen this year.

Frayed Knot
Jun 18 2007 06:39 PM

9 hits in just 5+ innings is a good sign.
Twinkie defense is bailing Silva's butt out here.

TransMonk
Jun 18 2007 06:46 PM

PLD! The bats are alive tonight.

Frayed Knot
Jun 18 2007 06:47 PM

So THAT'S what a 2-out RBI hit looks like!

I've only seen them from the other side for so long I forgot what one looked like.

Meanwhile, Maine is working on a 2-hitter in the 7th and one of those is tainted and the other was back in the 1st inning.

on edit: make that three hits and TWO of them tainted

TransMonk
Jun 18 2007 07:00 PM

Maine has pitched a gem...I would say dominant as I never really felt threatened that the Twinkies would score. He's probably done as he has 107 pitches after 7.

TransMonk
Jun 18 2007 07:12 PM

Maine back out for the 8th...gives up a lead off hit to Tyner.

Elster88
Jun 18 2007 07:15 PM

Gotta love Gary. He stopped talking mid-sentence so we could hear the crowd cheer Maine as he walked off the mound. Either that or he started choking on a peanut.

I'm even more excited about the 2 walks.

Beltran with an RBI double...the whole family got involved tonight.

If the Carloses get hot together we might get some of those wins back quickly.

Baseball Tonight: The Mets snapped an 11-game non-Friday losing streak.

Fun game to be at, seemed like, a lot of Twins fans near us but they had almost nothing to crow about. I loved to see them make several great plays to keep us from blowing it open then make an error in the 8th and really take it up the chute. That's what a good team does.

Decided on the topic of this week's important poll.

Ledee comes to bat to "Walking on the Moon" by the Police if anyone is still keeping track of that stuff.

Beltran hit it hard several times, looks like he might be coming around.

To me, the catch to rob Reyes was better than the more spectacular rob of Delgado's sinking hit.

Good game. I'm 3-0!
