Rank thy Smiths:

Bobby Gene (1962)
Dick (1963, 1964)
Charley (1964, 1965)
Pete (1994)
Joe (2007)

Charley - two very productive seasons
Pete - 4-10, 5.55 in 1994, but was so consistently bad as a Mets opponent that he gets the edge
Dick - serviceable role player in two seasons
Joe - it's only 31 games
Bobby - 3 for 22 in 1962; traded before the end of April

I think you could argue Dick/Joe, but other than that, this one's easy.

I play the guitar, so I have to be partial to Johnny Marr.

I watched tonight and I started this thread because I'm wondering if Charley is the only thing standing between Young Joe and history.

I don't by the number of innings line. Thems key innings.

Yeah, but if Joe gets hits by a bus tomorrow, it's hard to argue that a bunch of one- or two-out outings override a long career. Maybe it's close, because this team is good while that team was terrible, but I can't get too excited about him yet.

Love this from Joe....

Smith had been the featured player on the scoreboard during an in-game trivia contest. The question: His favorite minor-league stadium. His answer: KeySpan Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
