I don't see how we're not 80-0 with this pen!

Heath Bell - 48.1 IP, 0.87 WHIP, 51 K
Tyler Yates - 35.1 IP, 1.08 WHIP, 35 K
Matt Lindstrom - 32.1 IP, 1.33 WHIP, 29 K
Royce Ring - 6.1 IP, 8 K
Henry Owens - 23 IP, 1.96 ERA
Danny Graves - 31.3 IP, 2.87 ERA, 17 SV

That's a 2.55 ERA in 176 2/3 innings for those guys!

Oh, wait. You say those guys aren't Mets any more? That was 2004-2005? And Graves is actually a Duck? Oh.

That deal for Johnson/Adkins turned out pretty good for the Padres.

Hank Owen's shoulder hath blown out on him. But, you know, he was good before that.

< pedant >Yeah, but we should work in the present perfect here. It has turned out pretty good, rather than it turned out pretty good. It's not over yet. Root, root. < /pedant >

The situation with Heath Bell is frustrating. He had absolutely nothing left to prove in the minors, and yet he seemed to refuse to take advantage of the opportunities he had to stick with the Mets. And now he looks like an All-Star.

I don't dislike Johnson, but I don't see him as ever being more than a reserve in the Mets' outfield. And I'm not sure clearing out the relief arms at AAA while making multi-year commitments to Mota and Schoenweiss was a good strategy.
