Since we were discussing the Beach Boys the other day:
Catch a Wave: The Rise, Fall & Redemption of the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson -- Peter Ames Carlin
The book was out last year so it covers everything from the early days right up through the long-awaited 'Smile' unveiling
The author is obviously a big fan of Brian/the group, but is also knowledgable enough about music and unbiased enough to take a balanced view of the ups and downs of Brian's life and career. Better balanced and more complete, in other words, than Brian's early '90s "autobiography"; 'Wouldn't It Be Nice'.
