Rusty Car Guy

There's a guy who lives up the street who has three cars, all of which he parks on the street, two of which are barely roadworthy (a dinged-up rusted-out Nissan 280Z and a seatless, side-mirror hanging rusty Barracuda) taking up precious parking spots while making the whole street look like a chop-shop lot. I'm always considering narcing the guy to the DMV, pointing out that there's no way those jalopies pass inspection, despite what their stickers say, but then I realize I'm just being selfish. I could care less how safe his cars are: I just want one of his parking spaces. Plus the guy himself looks a little like his Barracuda: 70s model mustache and 'do, probably in need of a little TLC himself. Yesterday evening I was walking past 'Rust Row' when I spied the guy going the other way wearing a Mets shirt and carrying a sheet of bright-orange posterboard upon which I could make out the "NY" logo written in black magic marker. Later, during last night's game, visible in certain TV shots of the hitters, there he was in the first couple rows with his orange sign, professing, if I read it right, his love for the Mets and for Marie. Marie, if you're out there, please direct my Met-loving, fleet-owning neighbor to park at a repair shop. It's possible Marie is his car, too. Will update.
