I love my iPod shuffle. I just saw WarGames again last night. Admittedly, I was in a drunken stupor, but looking at the WOPR made me think about old computers that weighed a ton. I then reflected again on how badass my shuffle is that cost 70 dollars and is smaller than a box of matches.

But it's driving me crazy because everytime I plug it in to my computer iTunes automatically changes the songs. For the love of God how do I make it stop?

with the ipod plugged into the computer, check the box to manually manage music.

then it won't do anything automatically.

the other thing you could do is establish a specific playlist for the shuffle, and then if you specifically change that, then and only then would it update the songs. i think...

Where is that check box? Are you sure it's there for a shuffle? If not, where is it for another kind of iPod? Where in the iTunes menu I mean.

That's weird, I have a Shuffle, and mine doesn't automatically replace the songs when I connect it. I either have to delete the old ones out and drag new ones in, or click the Autofill button on the screen below before it changes them.

I have an older version of the itunes software though. I'm updating tonight and let you know if I have the same problem.

well, i've got a mini and a nano, but it should be on that settings tab - currently, the contents tab is showing. i believe that if you (or monk) were to click on the settings tab, then an option to manually manage music should appear in the middle of the screen, perhaps below a representative picture of a nano, pair of other check boxes, and above a selected checkbox for automatically managing the music.

Poop. My settings tab doesn't seem to have a button to turn off Auto-Fill. Can you grab a screen shot of yours to see what button you hit?
