One of the truly video-unfriendly bands of all time, Yes I said yes I will yes. Most of these are performance vids and go oin for 20 or 30 minutes I think. But you know how they go.

Give us your vote for which of the below (or a YES write-in) goes onto a mix tape that you'll be stranded with on a desert island (you will also have a solar-powered walkman to listen to it).

Nobody ever said you had to like this. YES!

Roundabout

Yours is No Disgrace

Tempus Fugit

And You & I

Wondrous Stories

Going for the One

I've Seen All Good People

Long Distance Runaround

Odor of a Taco Fart

Starship Trooper

I've Seen All Good People - YES I'll vote for that.....never cared for them. Anderson's voice became quite annoying around the second verse of the first song.

Supertramp and now Yes. Dickshot seems to be going for bands with castrated vocalists.

OK, no RUSH polls for at least 8 weeks.

I'll write in "Close to the Edge." Yes, it is 18 minutes long but it encompasses all of their hallmarks -- great guitar and organ solos, great bass and drums, a catchy melody and nonsensical lyrics. Also has a fast and a slow part which seems to appear in most of their songs. As far as the ones on Dickshot's list, in order:

Yours Is No Disgrace
Roundabout
Long Distance Runaround
And You and I
Starship Trooper
All Good People
Wondrous Stories
Tempus Figut
Owner of a Lonely Heart

If the Band Ladder Contest had continued, I was going to sponsor them next.

When I was young (and it seemed that life was so wonderful), if you told me the "Take the Long Way Home" singer wasn't a chick, I'd've called you a liar.

We'll have to wait on Sigur Ros too.

Only two people actually voted...me and someone else ....one other thing,I never liked organ solos ,they seemed like a waste of several minutes that the guitar player could be using to play a meaningless solo.

Hold yer horses, the poll has only been up an hour. We need time to watch all those videos.

Ok sorry, just that people are writing what song they like but not voting it.

I voted in a write-in.

I'm in total agreement with Sharpie only at the bottom of his list and "Lonely Heart" -- what a complete piece of crap and yet, so popular.

I have to say I like "Tempus" -- exciting, accessible... and sung by the guy from the Buggles! (along with their keyboard player who replaced Anderson & Wakefield for that one album). I also like "Wondrous Stories" and "Starship" more than Sharpie does.

Uh...

Wondrous Stories.

The top 6 on my list are all pretty close and on another day I might completely mix them up. "Wondrous Stories" makes the fatal error of using the word "wondrous" and felt to me like they were straining to come up with a hit. I can't really get behind the non-Jon Anderson Yes and "Owner Of a Lonely Heart" blows.

I'm still listening to Pr. Wakeman. I'll have my answer by Sunday.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the pattern. Voted for "Owner of a Lonely Heart". It's the only Yes song I can tolerate. Maybe it's a 'piece of crap' but it's the only Yes song where I can tolerate the vocals. "Roundabout" gives me nightmares of high school gym class...we used to have to do the 12 minute run every week to that song.

="Johnny Dickshot"]OK, no RUSH polls for at least 8 weeks.

I used to hate Rush just because of Geddy's voice...but I love all the newer Rush albums since Geddy decided to stop singing like he got his balls caught in a vice.

There was a brief time - oh so many years ago - when I was a fan of YES (the band, not the sports network) and dug the far-out artwork that accompanied their albums.
I'm not altogether proud of that period but there were worse choices.

Agree that 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' is one of the biggest pieces of crap ever to pollute the airwaves. We even had a discussion on that song back somewhere and, to me, that song getting airplay signaled the beginning of the end of rock radio; a song being played simply because it was by a "name" group and no doubt had a lot of record co push behind it. Not that that sort of stuff hadn't gone on before but now it was obvious that DJs with taste were powerless to keep it off the air because their bosses were all too happy to take the graft in order to keep it on.

I'll throw a bone to "Tempus Fugit," and give 'em points for the reggae-by-way-of-nu-wave influences with rhythm guitar on the the ub-beat. Molly Ringwald would dance to that.

Nah, I listened but don't remember it.

Roundabout's been one of my favorites for a long long time. Nice to hear it again!

OnEditr: I had also completely forgetten that Yes sang Owner of A LonelyHeart.
