IGT All-Star Game 7/10/07
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 05:11 PM |
AMERICAN LEAGUE
seawolf17 Jul 10 2007 05:33 PM |
I like Bonds second, because it forces Haren to throw him big, fat meaty fastballs with Jose Reyes dancing off first base.
Kid Carsey Jul 10 2007 06:09 PM |
Beltran will be the All-Star MVP (or corporate potg) and it will catipult him
metirish Jul 10 2007 06:10 PM |
They found a way to ruin a sit down with Willie Mays....
metirish Jul 10 2007 06:12 PM |
The swing for a million is total humiliation.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 06:28 PM |
Pinstripes!
seawolf17 Jul 10 2007 06:29 PM |
"Chase Utley? Why would I do that?"
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 06:31 PM |
Fox probably wanted just Jeter and Mays, and Mays, a former Met, no doubt refused, so they brought in Junior to balance out the evil.
seawolf17 Jul 10 2007 06:34 PM |
Dammit, you're telling me nobody had the chance to teach Chris Isaak the words to the national anthem before they sent him out there?
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 06:36 PM |
The hands over the hearts was a nice touch.
Kid Carsey Jul 10 2007 06:37 PM |
Yes, on such a perilous night ...
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 06:38 PM |
mays to Reyes!
Kid Carsey Jul 10 2007 06:43 PM |
The whole thing with Mays was nice, I'm such a mush mush for that stuff.
seawolf17 Jul 10 2007 06:49 PM |
Me: "I wonder how they chose Reyes to catch the first pitch."
Kid Carsey Jul 10 2007 06:53 PM |
For some reason I think Mays is a Reyes fan of sorts and branded him some
Johnny Dickshot Jul 10 2007 06:55 PM |
Reyes needed that image booster. I'm sure David Wright recommended he do it.
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 06:55 PM |
that was fucking disgraceful. not knowing the words to the national anthem and agreeing to sing it infront of a national audience anyway should be a crime. ichiro leads it off with a single past the diving utley!
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 06:57 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jul 10 2007 06:57 PM |
a beautiful 1-2 sinker from peavy to jeter. i say he swung. ring him up ump!
seawolf17 Jul 10 2007 06:57 PM |
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee grounds into the DP. Suck it, Jeter.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 06:58 PM |
That was more fun for Jose than catching the ball from Mays -- except jeter wouldn't autograph that ball for him.
seawolf17 Jul 10 2007 06:59 PM |
I think Tim McCarver actually shed a tear when Jeet GIDPed there. You could hear his voice crack, like his hero was just discovered in bed with a stripper.
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 07:00 PM |
Ortiz hits into the shift.... and Utley throws one about 6 inches off the ground that Fielder can't handle.
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 07:01 PM |
its a good thing his hero isnt loduca. yay wright!
Johnny Dickshot Jul 10 2007 07:01 PM |
Yay Mets!
Kid Carsey Jul 10 2007 07:01 PM |
ny: >>>disgraceful. not knowing the words to the national anthem and agreeing to sing it<<<
seawolf17 Jul 10 2007 07:01 PM |
And the Mets... set the Yankees down in the first.

BAD ASS!
Iubitul Jul 10 2007 07:04 PM |
Maye it's just me, but those plays in the field sparkled a little more with the blue hat/pinstripe combo.
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 07:05 PM |
BASEHIT reyes!
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:05 PM |

Batty31 Jul 10 2007 07:05 PM |
Base hit up the middle for Reyes!
Johnny Dickshot Jul 10 2007 07:05 PM |
Josay! Josejosejose
Batty31 Jul 10 2007 07:06 PM |
And Reyes steals second...
Johnny Dickshot Jul 10 2007 07:06 PM |
Jose... Jose...
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:06 PM |
Reyes takes a base off Pudge!!!
Zvon Jul 10 2007 07:06 PM |
Reyes with a leadoff single.
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 07:07 PM |
guerrero still has a canon. cant go to 3rd there. redass would have gotten reyes over, fuckin bonds.
Iubitul Jul 10 2007 07:07 PM |

Could Timmy be any more anti-Met?
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:09 PM |

Man, and Buck is dissing Beltran.
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 07:10 PM |
damnit beltran dont strike out!
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:10 PM |
Well, at least he swung. Unlike...well, you know.
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 07:12 PM |
junior drives home reyes!
Johnny Dickshot Jul 10 2007 07:12 PM |
At least with Betran they were reciting facts. But to hear the patrician disapproval in Timmy Mac's informing us that Reyes had stolen was just sick.
Kid Carsey Jul 10 2007 07:12 PM |
Like I said earlier, Reyes to be AS MVP and it will catapult .....
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:13 PM |
Yes!!!!
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:17 PM |
Well, Prince caught that one!
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:20 PM |
Hey, did Piazza wear No. 31 on the Dodgers? They gave his number to Brad Penny?
Edgy DC Jul 10 2007 07:26 PM |
A diving Jeter csn't get to crap.
seawolf17 Jul 10 2007 07:34 PM |
No, Tim, he's the starting second baseman because he was voted the starting second baseman.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 10 2007 07:40 PM |
We went over this before, but the Dodgers gave up 31 to coach John Shelby almost as soon as Piazza left. Penny took it over in 95. The last Dodger to be 31 before Piazza was Roger McDowell.

haha, everyone jumped out of their seats and bonds ball didnt go out :)
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:49 PM |
Shouldn't that Gatorade ad use a player who actually steals bases?
Johnny Dickshot Jul 10 2007 07:55 PM |
Arod. Not to be mistaken for Pete Rose.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:56 PM |
ARod is no Pete Rose going into the plate like that!
Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 07:58 PM |
arod thrown out by a mile by griffey!
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 07:58 PM |

Think he wondered for a moment if he could slap the ball out of Martin's glove. Worked so well in the playoffs!

not gonna happen with a catcher's mitt, sorry arod.

Scary.

SteveJRogers Jul 10 2007 08:04 PM |
YES! Somewherelse I read based on our future game rep that it looked like black/blue hat with black tops. THANKFULLY the proper pinstriped/blue hat attire is being worn. I'm guessing it has been a while since a Met has graced the ASG with pinstripes
SteveJRogers Jul 10 2007 08:05 PM |
Did Jorge have his Mini-Me with him in the intros?
Frayed Knot Jul 10 2007 08:07 PM |
No, but Victor Martinez did.
SteveJRogers Jul 10 2007 08:09 PM |
Well did Victor's Mini-Me go through life threating illness to the point where Victor created a foundation in his son's honor? Hmmmm?
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 08:09 PM |
What was with that half-inning long rationalization for using steroids?
Zvon Jul 10 2007 08:13 PM |
O M G !
Kid Carsey Jul 10 2007 08:13 PM |
Like I said earlier, Ichiro is a lock for the AS MVP ...
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 08:13 PM |
Bleeping Inchiro.
seawolf17 Jul 10 2007 08:14 PM |
Dude can fly. That's why they call him the "Japanese Jose Reyes."
SteveJRogers Jul 10 2007 08:17 PM |
Here is the truely funny part, and probably tells you all you need to know about how the ASG is treated, FOX ALMOST missed that because they have Eric Byrnes out there in McCovey Cove with his dog swimming the wrong way and his boat springing a leak.
metsmarathon Jul 10 2007 08:18 PM |
i think it was his ball that was sinking...
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 08:21 PM |
Reyes is a MONSTER!!!
SteveJRogers Jul 10 2007 08:21 PM |
Besides the point mm. But actually if they tried to ever use that call in any sort of highlight package of ASG moments, they actually would have to edit out that non-sequitor as Byrnes was saying that JUST as Young delivered the pitch pretty much. Or at the very least it was where usually you'd hear the start of the highlight "Here is the pitch..."
Johnny Dickshot Jul 10 2007 08:21 PM |
Thwack! I kinda like Eric Byrnes. He's the David Lee Roth of baseball. I also like that Miller High-Life commercial. Very funny. I like Jose Reyes too

Yeah but that wasn't Burkhardt coming in during a break in the action and breaking back for about 5 seconds, this was something while the action was very much going on
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 08:25 PM |
Heck, FOX showed some restraint. Usually you'd have the cast of "The Bernie Mac Show" out there sharing a kayak before moving into seats in the front row, where they would be pointed out by Buck - but it's not an ad. Then they'd be shooed out for the cast of "House."
Kid Carsey Jul 10 2007 08:26 PM |

Nymr83 Jul 10 2007 08:35 PM |
yay the obligatory "captain clutch interview". i'm gonna puke.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 08:46 PM |
Reyes remains in the game -- setting him up for some more drama!
Frayed Knot Jul 10 2007 09:03 PM |
Typical Wagner, can't thrive in a big game.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 09:08 PM |
So much for home field advantage.
Frayed Knot Jul 10 2007 09:09 PM |
I thought I was kidding.

SteveJRogers Jul 10 2007 09:09 PM |
Billy and Latin American backstops... UGH!
Edgy DC Jul 10 2007 09:10 PM |
Get it out of your system now, Billy.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 09:20 PM |
Buck keeps saying nine straight wins for the AL. A tie is not a win.
Frayed Knot Jul 10 2007 09:41 PM |
I hate losing to these communist bastards.
metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 09:44 PM |
LaRussa sends the Meat up there instead of Pujols?
Edgy DC Jul 10 2007 09:51 PM |

metsguyinmichigan Jul 10 2007 09:56 PM |
BRING IN PUJOLS!!!!

Stinking Phillies kill us every time.
Edgy DC Jul 10 2007 10:03 PM |
They blew their horns, and NL goes down. I don't believe there are any Red Sox
SteveJRogers Jul 10 2007 10:07 PM |
I wonder if Ichiro had a party or something to go to?
Gwreck Jul 10 2007 10:14 PM |
No excuse for keeping Pujols on the bench. Aaron Rowand? C'mon.
Gwreck Jul 10 2007 10:28 PM |
Apparently Albert Pujols ducked out of the game, Sammy Sosa-style, and wasn't even available to use a PH if they wanted to.* Asshole.
Zvon Jul 10 2007 10:41 PM |
Totally enjoyed the game :)
bmfc1 Jul 11 2007 03:35 AM |
Pujols is mad at LaRussa for not playing him. Rob Neyer has a good blog entry today blasting LaRussa for this decision. I didn't think it was possible to dislike LaRussa more, yet I do!

Center fielder throwing to his short stop,I think that's what they were going for.

As argued eloquently in the latest edition of "Faith & Fear", it was a passing of the torch from one NY great to another. A brilliant, moving moment.

Even though we lost I thoroughly enjoyed this game.
bmfc1 Jul 11 2007 08:09 AM |
The upside to the NL's loss is the almost universal slamming of LaRussa. At Deadspin, Cardinals fan Will Leitch rips him. On FAN, Russo said "only Tony LaRussa can screw up an all-star game" and it was a "Christmas present" from LaRussa to Leyland. And even the dopey Cardinals fans are ripping him: at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch message board, a majority of the posters think he screwed up. Nice to see LaRussa exposed.
metirish Jul 11 2007 08:16 AM |
I'll give LaRussa credit for leaving Reyes in longer than any player, giving every chance at an MVP if things had worked differently, still not hitting Pujols was criminal.
