Is Newhan the Sunday starter? Green finally had a good game and he rides the pine today.

Whither Ben Johnson? Is Newhan's versatility that much of an asset? Does Lastings' promotion spell the end of BJ's time in NYC? I'd rather see Johnson here that Newhan.

Edgy DC
Jul 15 2007 10:59 AM

Johnson will be back. Meantime, yes, versatility is useful (buys them an extra pitcher, as is a lefthanded bat.

Newhan has outhit Johnson both with the Mets and the Zephyrs.

Bad route, nice catch. Whatever works for Milledge.

OlerudOwned
Jul 15 2007 11:20 AM

The FSN Ohio folks just spend about 2 minutes during Conine's at bat ripping on Ollie's "terrible" pick-off move.

I cordially invite you to suck it.

This is the first game I've caught of the series. Did Beltran change his stance? He looks a little more upright than I remember.

Maybe I'm just nuts.

Ev-ee buh-dee drop yo' pants!

We will rake with Milledge in the village of our choice.

Milledge magic.

I checked on Marlon Anderson's status w/the Zephyrs: he's 1 for 12 so far:

King of Queens in the house.

Kevin James is a real Mets fan. In one commercial for Chuck & Larry, his character is wearing Mets stuff in three different shots.

Have I ever mentioned that Adam Dunn is my favorite non-Met.

Holy crap what a shot.

Edgy DC
Jul 15 2007 12:13 PM

Dunn homers, but it serves to underscore how huge that DP was.

The Mets are playing sharply.

Reyes' getting into a power groove?

metsguyinmichigan
Jul 15 2007 12:43 PM

Perez is hitting a robust .267. Sure isn't hurting himself up there.

Anybody surprised Dave Williams was dumped?

and, KABOOM for Jose, who bleeping Tom Verducci didn't even list in his top 10 for NL MVP.

Edgy DC

I got a bigger target than Tom Verducci's MVP ballot.

Doing some work in the yard this afternoon. I check in on the game when I need a short break. So far, so good.

It was 3-0 Mets when I last checked in. Now it's 5-1 Mets as Dunn and Reyes trade Kabooms. Hopefully, the team wil be putting the finishing touches on a win when I check in next time.

Oh, absolutely. But I love pointing out the bastard's sheer anti-Mets bias whenever possible. Yankee-lovin' hack!

Aw c'mon Dave, how valuable could the catalyst of a team that's been in first place virtually the entire first half be?

Bad ass!

I don't think that Verducci's pro-Yankees, anti-Mets prejudice is even close to that of Buster Olney.

metsguyinmichigan
Jul 15 2007 01:50 PM

I don't like Newhan.

bmfc1
Jul 15 2007 01:52 PM

Newhan's been the victim of three good plays today--he's hit the ball hard.

metsguyinmichigan
Jul 15 2007 01:54 PM

I'm not too keen on Valentin any more, either.

Rockin' Doc

I like coming in to see the Mets have won. Winning three of four is a Nice start to the second half. The team just needs to get the offense going and get on a little roll.

It was about 400 degrees in the sun, so young I.J. Shot came up just short of an official game in his big-league debut.

Edgy DC
Jul 15 2007 07:02 PM

Seat one. And I.J. is 1-0.

Is the person next to you wearing jeans on his or her head?

Great pic,he's getting big, four innings is about all one could expect form the young Shot,Perez didn't last much longer, and that was fine too.

I still remember the confiscated banner on a banner day many years ago for Rusty Staub "King of Queens"

Farmer Ted

Baby Ted is 0-1, with a loss last Sept. in PGH that could have clinched the pennant. She lasted until inning five before the bjorn got put to use. Nice work Baby DICKSHOT! Before you know it, he'll be posting "I'm 23-0 when I see the Mets at Shea".

Farmer Ted - "...Nice work Baby DICKSHOT! Before you know it, he'll be posting "I'm 23-0 when I see the Mets at Shea".

I certainly hope this comes to pass. As long as he doesn't post an exhaustive list of the 10 best Mets games he attended, we'll all be fine.

My daughter made her debut as well.

The sign helped her get on the scoreboard a couple of times...

Johnny Dickshot
Jul 16 2007 08:34 AM

Did you have one of those premium-seat valets make that sign for you?

soupcan
Jul 16 2007 08:51 AM

Usually yes but since it was so hot they were otherwise occupied with alternately holding parasols over our heads, massaging sunscreen on our exposed parts and spritzing us with chilled Evian.

Johnny Dickshot

Really did "Cup a Soup" make that sign at home herself?

soupcan
Jul 16 2007 09:18 AM

It was entirely her concept, she drew and colored in the the 'Lets Go Mets', I drew everything else but we both did the rest of the coloring.

We'd like to see a picture of that too

Hey, I think I saw cup-o'-soup on Diamondvision.

D'shot, sorry I didn't wander up ... I ended up going alone (KB was a late
scratch) and I had two Buds and got really comfortable and lazy with my
headphones and feet up with no one in the seats in front of me.

Gotta get me one of those retired number shirts, I hear they've even been
spotted in Europe.
