This team has a huge need for LM right now, great opportunity for him and I hope he jumps all over it..

Why keep him when a guy like Jermaine Dye is available? He's a proven commodity. We have proof that he can hit 12 home runs with a .271 OBP. Milledge this year? 0 HR and .000 OBP.

And while Milledge is off bringing upon the decay of Western Civilization with his disgusting rap music and gaudy sweater-vests, Dye was out, oh WINNING A WORLD SERIES MVP AWARD!!!1 Because he's a winner. Who wins. Things. I see a lot of Derek Jeter in him.

I'm not saying he shouldn't/mustn't be traded, but...

1. Milledge is younger than Dye, and under the team's control for more years.

2. You won't get Dye for Milledge even-up, so you'd also have to give up someone else, most likely another young promising player.

The Mets do need to get another outfielder for this season. I just think that Milledge ought to be one of the candidates. Dye can be another.

I was being facetious. I honestly don't want Dye anywhere near this team.

I was really wondering about that statement....

The Mets owe it to themselves to find out if Milledge can be their left fielder before deciding if they should trade him and/or trade for another bat. I just wish they could have more than a two-week sample size this year to go with the month or two of semi-regular playing last year. I do think there's an excellent chance that he could be better right now than anybody available. Keep in mind that Dye would be moving from a very friendly park for right-handed power hitters to a very unfriendly one.

I think his citation of a .271 OBP made clear that he was withdrawing the pee.

True. I should have picked up on that.

I'm am far from Lasting's biggest fan here at the CPF, but I think it's time to stick him in LF and see what he can produce. It's time to see whether or not he is capable of producing at the major league level. I think his upside far exceeds playing Ledee or Newhan in the OF. When Endy returns, then the Mets can reevalutel the situation or possibl look at a platoon. I don't think that Moises can be counted on to do much more than collect paychecks and wait to be "completely healthy".

Phew!

I think it's time for Lastings to step up and show us all what he can do. He's never going to get a better opportunity, and he got his stupid rookie mistakes out of the way last year.

Our team lacks fire right now. I like the idea of a colorful, excited and enthusiastic kid coming up. He can be the spark that gets the rest of them going.

One thing Met fans need to keep in perspective here is that Milledge is still just 22 y/o - barely 8 months older than Gomez - and was, at the time of his callup last year, the youngest position player in all of MLB. What I'm afraid of is that too many are going to look at this trial (assuming he gets the post ASB callup) as a make-or-break deal even though he's coming off two months of inactivity and being thrown in after just a handful of minor league ABs.

And, while I understand where he's not high on the likability scale of some fans, that still doesn't entirely explain the disconnect between the rep of his brief ML trial vs that of Gomez

In today's game at Binghamton, Lastings went 2-4, with 2 dingers and 3 RBI. No K's.
He's now hitting .430-something.

I read they're going to keep him at AA because the PCL is in their 3 day ASG break. They must feel the extra at bats (Lastings is batting leadoff) would be more beneficial than fewer at bats against AAA competition after a 3 day layoff.
