| ] Man robs bank disguised as a tree A bank robber whose cunning plan consisted of taping foliage to his arms to disguise himself as a tree has been arrested. He chose a branch of the Citizens Bank on Elm Street, in the New Hampshire town of Manchester, to try out his woodland camouflage, despite the lack of other trees with which to blend in. Although his natural-look disguise was not perfect, leaving his face with only a light covering of undergrowth, the man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. At first, with no trail to follow, the local police appeared somewhat stumped. But the tree robber had not reckoned with the power of "grass", and a tip-off by someone who recognised him on the bank's CCTV led sheriffs to to his home nearby, where he was arrested. "Basically, someone came into the bank right at opening time, demanded money, and then they left," said Det Sgt Ernie Goodno. "He had tree branches duct-taped on his person, as if he was trying to camouflage himself in the woods." The officer added: "He really went out on a limb." James Coldwell, 49, has been charged with robbery. |
