So I bought this '86 Vanagon last year and by hobby and necessity, I've been working on it lots. I had a 73 Super Beetle in high school and college and loved the hell out of that thing, and this has been as fun (and frustrating, too) getting to know it under the hood.

Any other peeps fixing an older car or any car? What do you have? What ails your ride?

How disappointing! I thought this was a thread about Lemmy. :(

Nice ride. What work have you done on it so far?

Nothing too crazy. New expansion tank and coolant level sensor and new thermostat most recently. The Bentley and Haynes guides are must-haves if you're a VW owner.

Anyway, it rocks. Most of the time.

And when its rockin, don't bother knockin'.

I drive a Ford Focus. Not much hod-roddin' for me.

In a past life I had a huge LTD Sedan 73 or 74, which would have been fun to fix up. But considering I bought it for $150, I didn't have the $$ to.

My fixer upper is a 1929 Ford Model A with a rumble seat that I have stored in my father's 3 car garage in West Virginia. Haven't brought it home, because I don't want to pay storage and I'm too spoiled to make my Mustang Convertible sit outside to make room for the Model A in my garage.

The original engine runs, but needs some minor work. The body is sound and rust-free, but needs painting and new chrome plating. The interior needs to be completely restored. Most of this is beyond my abilities and I want to get the kids through school before I start really tackling the restoration with my buddies (another reason I leave it in WV).

This is basically what I hope it will look like in a few years when it's fully restored.

Whoa! I'm impressed, Doc! I love old cars and I used to attend car shows frequently and I haven't seen a 1929 Ford Model A in ages. Please share pictures when you finally complete the project!

Seo, best of luck to you on your restoration project as well!
