I'm really looking forward to FOX cutting out of the Mets game to show us Bonds at-bats.

(Just trying to see if typing that sentence would actually cause me to burst into flames. Fox sucks.)

Jose Reyes passed himself, huh. That almost made her crappy joke funny, pun intended.

Hey Mr. XFL, it's go-TIE, not go-TAY.

Doesn't look like Joe Buck is doing baseball this year.
I haven't heard him paired with Timmy for a while now.
I guess he has to prepare for football season. After all, there's only 7 or 8 weeks to go
and it's never too early to start rehearsals.

bmfc1
Jul 21 2007 02:06 PM

FK: Buck seems to be allowed to pick his own schedule. Given that this is a "Game of the Week", and he's the lead announcer, you'd think he'd show up every once in awhile. Perhaps the Bonds chase and a meeting between NY and LA isn't big enough for him and he's waiting for the next Yankees game. Meanwhile, as you suggested, you know he'll be there for every week of the NFL season including all the exhibition games.

its alot of work, it might take 2 weeks alone to learn to spell Tuiasosopa, and then theres all the studying you need to do to be able to competently address Michael Vick's legal situation.

i HATE cutting to Bonds' at-bats.

Nice. McCarver gives an almost apologetic disclaimer before he recites statistics illustrating that lead-off walks are bad.

bmfc1
Jul 21 2007 02:10 PM

McCarver just said "no-nos." Outta site!

OlerudOwned
Jul 21 2007 02:10 PM

Nice baserunning David.

Castro time with no outs and 2 men in scoring position.

Was looking forward to seeing the Mets today, but here in the Bay Area Fox is showing Giants-Brewers. ugh.

Maybe they'll cut in for Marlon Anderson's ABs

Zvon
Jul 21 2007 02:17 PM

Milledge's line single to right makes it 2-0 Mets :)

iramets
Jul 21 2007 02:18 PM

Two runs driven in by Castro and Milledge, 2-0 middle 2nd.

A Boy Named Seo

Sosa's living dangerously.

Tim McCarver just started a sentence with "I have never been as wrong about...".

Instantly, hundreds of like-minded inviduals opened their mouths and raised a single finger.

But does it grow on Dmitri?

Rockin' Doc
Jul 21 2007 02:26 PM

hey, you know, if Betemit could only erase his April and May numbers for the season, he could have been an All Star. At least that's what the idiot announcing with McCarver said.

Nymr83
Jul 21 2007 02:30 PM

warning: top of the lineup coming up for the Giants, please be alert for unwarranted intteruptions of the Met game during this inning.

Well, he did add "woulda, shoulda, coulda."

Is Rickey's middle name really "Nelson"?

Nymr83

fucking idiots, he was playing CARDS during the playoff game not dominoes!

Mr. XFL is trying to show his knowledge of the Mets but he's trying too hard by trotting out stories from years ago.

He's some kind of angel if you know what I mean.

I assume you're talking about Timmy parner here but I don't know who that is.

Rockin' Doc

Wright hits a 2-run bomb to centerfield.

Johnny Dickshot
Jul 21 2007 02:39 PM

Can't remember the last time the meat of the Met order started and cashed in their own 2-out/none-on rally.

I agree with McCarver's remark about Beltran making bb look easy when he's going well. That is especially true of his centerfielding.

Love that Miller commercial. $11.50 for a hamburger?

very lame we're cutting to Bonds mid-inning

When the Dick Ebersol/Vince McMahon football league was on NBC, the lead announcer was Matt Vasgersian. He's not bad but he's trying too hard today.

We don't even get a little postage stamp box with the Mets game? Seriously?

It's not like he'll break the record here, he's still 2 away from tying the damn thing. God dammit.

Rockin' Doc
Jul 21 2007 02:43 PM

The score is 1-0 San Francisco, but they're much less concerned with that than they are Bonds.

So says the idiot with McCarver.

Nymr83
Jul 21 2007 02:43 PM

Bonds bounces back to the mound...gimme the Mets back assholes

A request for the KABOOM! providers: can we please have a Harry Potter related KABOOM for the next homer?

It shouldn't count then

Frayed Knot
Jul 21 2007 02:46 PM

That means that they couldn't find any actual baseball announcers to work a baseball game.
Generic all-purpose announcers doing your favorite sport usually sound out of place.
But I guess he's already on the FOX payroll so they figure they might as well use him.

OlerudOwned
Jul 21 2007 02:47 PM

I like the announcer commenting on the bravery of tiny insignificant little man Dave Bush going after the mighty Barry Lamar Bonds, daring to pitch to him with the bases empty and nobody out.

Dave Bush? More like David, for he has slain Goliath. God damn I hate Fox.

Rockin' Doc
Jul 21 2007 02:51 PM

bmfc1 - "A request for the KABOOM! providers: can we please have a Harry Potter related KABOOM for the next homer?"

If Harry Potter hits a home run, I will gladly provide him an appropriate KABOOM. I just hope there is another KABOOM opportunity later in todays game.

bmfc1
Jul 21 2007 02:54 PM

FK: according to the website I just found, Vasgersian is on the Padres TV team. But you're right: he's not a regular FOX baseball guy. They needed a backup and he's on the payroll but why not have Kenny Albert do a game that's being shown in NY?

http://www.nmia.com/%7Eroberts/media06.html

Hey, Allisa Millano's at the game. I'm stunned!

Johnny Dickshot
Jul 21 2007 03:06 PM

Fuckedy

Rockin' Doc
Jul 21 2007 03:07 PM

Zvon
Jul 21 2007 03:09 PM

Ugh. Kemp.

I dont make kabooms for the other team.
That would be blasphemy.

Rockin' Doc
Jul 21 2007 03:11 PM

The Dodgers are pummeling Sosa at will.

OlerudOwned
Jul 21 2007 03:15 PM

Compounding the fact that this game just took a turn of the sucky, these announcers are having what appears to be a contest of stupid statement oneupsmanship.

No, that isn't a Braves hat.

Kenny's doing the Bonds game (I mean Giants game)

Johnny Dickshot

This is Gotay, I'm afraid.

That's a Melvin-Mora-at-short-worthy error.

Zvon

8-4, Mets dooooown.

Ha--they walk him.

Glad to be into their bullpen. :)

iramets
Jul 21 2007 04:14 PM

How the hell did this game get so out of control?. Wright hit a 2-run HR, I went out for bike ride, and now it's 8-4? WTF?

Johnny Dickshot
Jul 21 2007 04:16 PM

So-so gave a lot of hard hits, then a 3-run homer.

Gotay with a 2-run throwing error on a DP ball.

Penny regained his effectiveness

Edgy DC
Jul 21 2007 04:51 PM

OK, we've got Castro-Anderson-Milledge-Mota in the ninth, with Alomar, Green, and Hernandez on the bench. I guess you let everybody bat until you get to Mota, when you put Green in there, but you might want to send Sandy Jr. up there if they go lefty-lefty against Anderson.

Edgy DC
Jul 21 2007 04:52 PM

Milledge fans on three pitches.

Zvon
Jul 21 2007 04:57 PM

Gah.
Milledge mailed in that at bat.

Game Over.

Really over now Cleon.

Frayed Knot
Jul 21 2007 05:18 PM

Milledge got screwed on strike 2 ... but it's not like that was a game changing call.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that there's some sort of anniversary DVD
re-issue of 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' on tap and that FOX has an intere$t in it.
Just a hunch.
