Holy Crap! I just found out that today's game starts at noon!

Camp Day: Rough lineup vs. LHP
bmfc1 Jul 26 2007 09:36 AM |
Today's lineup makes me think of the weekday game against the Cubs when they made the fantastic comeback.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2007 09:38 AM |
Aside from Beltran's absence, this lineup really doesn't seem all that different from what we've been seeing lately.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 09:42 AM |
Yeah, you might argue that it's their best possible lineup, except that I'd prefer Anderson over Easley. Castro playing instead of Lo Duca isn't exactly much of a sacrifice.

Today's lineup reminds me of a late March game when they're trying to figure out if these guys are worth bringing north.

sharpie Jul 26 2007 09:47 AM |
Not at all. That game featured no Wright, Reyes or Beltran. Easley instead of Anderson is I guess a lefty/righty thing. I think this is the best we can expect vs. lefties. Hope the Nats don't throw any at us.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 26 2007 09:47 AM |
You gotta believe though that Willie would prefer a RH-hitter at second, not to mention in right field. This kinda depth makes me think they'll go get Conine so as to replace Franco (Anderson replacing Newhan).

Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 10:01 AM |
Blue caps today, solid white jerseys.
metirish Jul 26 2007 10:05 AM |
Going by Transmonks data the Mets have a 500 W% at home wearing that combo.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 10:14 AM |
John Travolta is at the game, wearing one of those weird Mets pre-game practice caps. Robin Williams is also in Travolta's box.
bmfc1 Jul 26 2007 10:15 AM |
Howie said that Robin Williams and John Travolta are filming a movie at Shea today. He said it was called "Dog Days"--it's "Old Dogs":

It's time for them to be put down.

1-0 after one as the Mets build a run the small-ball way:

Gary Carter in the booth!
metirish Jul 26 2007 10:45 AM |
Is Gary flogging something,he was on Costos NOW the other night with Chris Rock and Ozzie Smith..
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 10:48 AM |
He's flogging some MasterCard promotion.
metirish Jul 26 2007 10:50 AM |

WOW,wish I was watching.

Oliver mowing them down -- 1 baserunner thru 3

Stupid "Your Season Has Come" commercial on SNY shows a kid watching with his dad as the Mets win the 1986 World Series, and then that same kid, now grown up, watching the 2007 Mets with his son.
seawolf17 Jul 26 2007 11:02 AM |
Confession: I really enjoy the Aflac goat commercial.
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2007 11:11 AM |
This game's lookin' like a quickie.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:14 AM |
With one out in the fifth, Perez has seven strikeouts.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:25 AM |
Well, Ralph's visit to the booth is done. He's off to Cooperstown.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2007 11:30 AM |
Couple of tough shit hits against Ollie there.
Centerfield Jul 26 2007 11:31 AM |
This is no good.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:31 AM |
And a bunt and a wild throw by Perez brings the tying run home.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:32 AM |
Big out as Sanchez foul pops to Delgado.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:34 AM |
Another foul pop, this one a terrific running catch by Gotay who then turns and throws a bullet to the plate to keep the runner on third.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:35 AM |
Rick Peterson (not wearing a jacket) visits Perez on the mound before pitching to Nady.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2007 11:35 AM |
I can't imagine how difficult that play by Gotay actually would be to execute, especially with the sun bearing down the way it is. He made it look like a sure thing.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:37 AM |
Ugh. Nady drives a single off of David Wright's leg, and two runs score.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2007 11:37 AM |
3 runs, and the only ball to touch the outfield grass was a 73-hopper. Ouch.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:37 AM |
Uh-oh. Trainer is visiting Wright. That ball hid hard off Wright's right knee.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:38 AM |
He's grimacing, but nodding. Looks like he'll stay in the game.
OlerudOwned Jul 26 2007 11:41 AM |
Aw hell.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:42 AM |
This game is unraveling.
metsmarathon Jul 26 2007 11:45 AM |
poo...
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:49 AM |
Perez didn't leap over the foul line when the 6th inning ended.
cleonjones11 Jul 26 2007 11:50 AM |
Looks like the campers can get a jump on the traffic after they all take a crap in the oversized bathrooms
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:51 AM |
Lasty gets us one back with a solo homer.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 26 2007 11:52 AM |
Milledge = Mets' best player.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 11:53 AM |
Yeah, Lastings is looking like a keeper.
G-Fafif Jul 26 2007 11:56 AM |
The PA played "Don't Worry Be Happy" while Schoeneweis was warming up.

Phelps hit didn't touch the OF grass either.
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2007 12:08 PM |
Pittsburgh has apparently been practicing their infield hits
Johnny Dickshot Jul 26 2007 12:12 PM |
Joe Smith: The Scott Schoeneweis of the 2nd half.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 12:13 PM |
What happened? I was on the phone for a few minutes, and now it's 8 to 2.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 26 2007 12:14 PM |
The Mets mistakenly think they're good enough to make errors and still win.
bmfc1 Jul 26 2007 12:16 PM |
With Smith's troubles, the price for Chad Cordero undoubtedly just went up.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 12:17 PM |
Mets trying to get something started in the 7th as Easley and Castro get on with nobody out.
Centerfield Jul 26 2007 12:17 PM |
Should Wright have been able to make either of those two potentially inning-ending plays?
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 12:26 PM |
If you're referring to the one that bounced off his knee, no, I can't fault him for not getting that. It was a real hard shot.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 26 2007 12:31 PM |
I'm watching on the net, don;t expect any good insight from me. I just saw Wright get changed with an error that inning, and seems like., a lotta infield singles. Anyway, Joe's been shit since that Detroit game, seems like.
Centerfield Jul 26 2007 12:39 PM |
Reyes KABOOM!
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 12:44 PM |
End of the 8th, Mets are down by four with the lower half of the order due up in the 9th.
Centerfield Jul 26 2007 12:47 PM |
That's discouraging. On my Gamecast, the Mets are still batting in the 8th.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 12:50 PM |
If we're looking for good news, Ruben Gotay has looked pretty good at second base today.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 26 2007 12:53 PM |
Rally song!
Frayed Knot Jul 26 2007 12:59 PM |
Picket fence scoring proves no match when up against big, ugly innings.
Centerfield Jul 26 2007 12:59 PM |
Boofuck.
HahnSolo Jul 26 2007 02:35 PM |
Mets maintain lead over the Phils as Philly's pen gives up 2 in the seventh and three in the eighth. Cordero and the Nats hold on in the 9th for a 7-6 win.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 26 2007 02:52 PM |
That makes me feel better.
cleonjones11 Jul 26 2007 03:10 PM |
Anybody think David Wright might end up at 2b next season..He is a defensive liability at third
