I haven't gotten to watch many games recently because my stolen . . .err. . .I mean FREE cable hasn't been working.

I know lastings has been hitting the ball, but how has his defense looked? I have seen some funky routes to the ball. . . but has it at least been decent?

Kid Carsey
Jul 31 2007 05:45 PM

He's alright, of course we'd rather him being in a corner but he's doing what's
needed from him and has been a big lift in other areas.

Of course I sound like Ed Coleman but I do that a lot less than I'm generally
accused of in these parts so I'll let my hair down tonight.

Johnny Dickshot

I think Lastings has been fine. His throwing decisions are about as bad as you can make, but otherwise, he looks good even IMO.

Paul "I'll Be In There" LoDuca is probably stewing in a corner somewhere.

Moises Alou is approaching his 300th minute without an apparent injury.

Alou missed almost 2-1/2 months and is within 15 RBI of Green.

If doing that hardens his hands, perhaps he should consider trying it all over his body.

Johnny Dickshot
Jul 31 2007 07:41 PM

We've had way too many guys gunned at home this year but that wasn't a dumb call. Nice play by the bad guys.

Gary sure was pleased that the Mets "took what the Brewers gave them" but had we not given them an out, we might be up by more than 1 (or may not. I can't kill them for the sacbunt either, since it worked).

What I'd like to see is Glavine protect what his mates gave him.

G-Fafif
Jul 31 2007 07:41 PM

That slow-motion replay of Delgado being thrown out at home doesn't really indicate how slow Delgado is.

Interesting how Gary went on about how the Brewers would've been out of the inning had they played the infield in on that single that Wright got.

Had the Mets played the IF in when Fielder was up, they would've gotten out of that inning (bottom 4th) without the Brew Crew scoring.

I was blessed to be present at Tom Seaver's 300th win, and it was wonderful to see him go all the way.

Then I was in Detroit for one of the games when the bastard Clemens went for 300th. He departed early with a lead, and Jeter and Soriano threw the ball around and allowed the Tigers -- enroute to 119 losses -- to tie the game, which went 17 innings before the vile ones finally won. Pretty much a bad day all around.

Here's hoping our pen and D can get it done for Tommy.

Only partially true, though, a real War of Attrition would have meant that we were down to Sele because we had already gotten two innings from Wagner.

I'm definitely not about holding the closer out of these extra inning ties on the road.

I wasn't on the IGT last night, but I'm wondering if I'm the only one who wanted Heilman to pitch to Fielder? He seemed to be rocking along, and I'd rather go with the pitcher who's doing well rather than the unknown quantity in the bullpen.

And I suppose he has to stay down in New Orleans for ten days, but if it were up to me, I'd promote Adkins and demote Mota as soon as I could.

Not at all. I was pretty pissed that I was late...mostly because it took me an hour and a half to go the last 15 miles and get through the parking lot. My wife was very cool about staying for the extra frames considering we had a ten year old in tow, a ride home that would take more than an hour and work in the morning. More people than I would have expected left after the Brewers tied the game and it was clear Glavine would not get the win. The crowd then thinned out after the bottom of each inning from the ninth on. I was very happy to see the extra baseball because I missed the first 3 innings...made me feel like I got my money's worth.

It was a terribly exciting game...not necessarily well played by all involved. Each team had multiple chances to win it before the final run crossed the plate. It was nice to see a full house in Milwaukee on a Tuesday night. I don't know if I've ever seen that before.

The Brewers fans were the roudiest I've ever seen. I got more crap for wearing a Mets jersey and cap to a game last night than in every other Brewer/Mets game I've attended combined. I guess winning breeds confidence. Fortunately, they're new at this...so they're pretty easy to give crap back to.

While Turnbow was warming up, he threw 2 pitches in a row to the backstop drawing jeers from the fans.

At one point after a Brewer groundout, Delgado started going around the horn by throwing it too high for Castillo, sending the ball into centerfield.

Edgy DC
Aug 01 2007 08:48 AM

By signing Mota for two years and backloading the deal to minimize the financial pain of the suspension, you get the idea that Omar Minaya is being punished by cosmic justice, that he deserves all the pain Mota can inflict on his team.

OK, you may not, but I do.

Minaya had a great 2006, but he's having a Phillipsian 2007.

Aug 01 2007 08:53 AM

Not that this mattered in the outcome, but why was Alou being an asshole and not backing off when the centerfielder calls it?

Why was he being an asshole and grounding into a DP in our best opportunity to score?
