that really is pathetic, throwing shit at players/officials should come with a lifetime ban from all sporting venues along with whatever penalties the local police and DA want to press for.

He was a lot quicker to identify the motives, evil intent, and shitty character of the fan than he was of Clemens, wasn't he?

If this happened in NY, it would mean stories about "Typical NY Fans." I thought LA fans were "laid back." This shows that people can be jerks everywhere you look.

Not really LA. This is Anaheim, where they named their airport after John Wayne. Thank goodness the guy didn't have a grenade. Later

The fan being led away looked somewhat happy with what he had just done.

Sure he was happy. Not only did he hit his target, but he got Piazza's attention and the attention of everyone in the crowd.

Let's see. "You're gutless" is an immediate, forthright characterization with none of the considered, non-confrontatory language that Piazza carefully employed with Clemens. Throw in the inflammatory body language that Piazza used, gesturing at the guy, and pressing charges, demanding jail time for him...yeah, I think it's safe to say that Piazza never did any of those things with Clemens.

Well, Piazza did gesture at Clemens, but that was about it.
