Ambler I predicted the same thing in the game thread. If Robin is back to 99 form this
year could be a lot easier than we think.

Thread preservation.

I agree. This one is too priceless to let it slip into oblivion. And there was a PARTY
goin' on in the fish tank when I got home from work--all the plants were dug up & the
gravel was getting moved all to 1 side...I swear, they KNEW.

Too bad there isn't a archival museum for these classic moments (threads). This one
and the poetic odes to Rey would be first ballot inclusions if such existed.

Well,I've got over a hundred threads archived. What to do with them...now that's
another story. Anyone have any clever ideas? (Outside of my getting a life, that is;
I've tried that. Doesn't work.)

Consider this a bump to the top.

I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll be looking for ambler's "The Mets will start 3-6"
thread to bump up to the top, as well.

Re: pinch hit for Ventura

Here's a hobby, doc: archive every thread started by ambler.

And, lest posterity forget the context, Ventura responded with a two-run homer
against Rocker, and won the game with a two-run shot in extra innings.

What to do with archived posts

Hey Doc,

On another mailing list I am a part of, on of the members collects all the classic posts,
groaners, stupid comments, and all around funny stuffs, and at the end of the year
(season ?) publishes them on the net. He breaks things down by category and then
awards prizes for the truly best lines of the year. He calls his award the "Spuddy". I
don't see why we can't give out "Oscar Madisons" to those classic list moments.
For Example from last nights game ...

Some good karma for the weekend. Good luck in Canada. Reminds me of the
commercial:

Bear: "Blue!"

Japanese businessmen: "Brew!"

Bear: "No BLUE!"

JB: "Brew!"

Bear: "Close enough"

JB: "Krose enuff!"

and then at the end of the commercial they all shout "Canada!!!"

I see that I made reference to the SBHS. Now I can't for the life of me remember what that acronym stood for.

SBS = Society for Baseball Superstitions

SBHS = ? Can anyone remember what the hell that stood for?

While looking for something else this evening, I stumbled across this basic definition for the SBHS I mentioned in the archived MOFO thread. At least now I know what group I was professing "membership" in.

SBHS: The Stick to the Business at Hand Society. A group that advocates restraint in proposing WATPs during the season with an outright moratorium on WATPs after the trade deadline passes or during the post-season.
