This from an interesting blog in which an autograf-collectin' Met fan recalls collectin' autografs.

A really cool dovetail of Crane Pool themes.

Most remembrances had Johnny as the surliest of the bunch.

Someone I knew from the publishing biz told me that whenever an author was in town for a book-signing appearance Joey was always one of the peeps hanging out right there in the line waiting to get his newly purchased tome autographed.

Nice story by metsguyinmichigan. We need to get more bloggers posting
here. Johnny was the grounded one, the no nonsense let's play our shit we
don't need airplay and fame we need to do our thing because we are the best
at what we do and if you don't like it fuck you guy. At least, that's my take.

A big Yankee fan, comic book boy, horror flick guy - he said in an interview
somewhere I remember seeing that he may not even pick up a guitar in his
retirement and just go to baseball games and work on his collecting stuff.

I figured after Joey and Dee Dee died, at least Johnny would prolly outlive us.
Cancer blows.

I know Joey was a bit of a 'day trader' in his later years, hence the song to CNBC's 'Maria Bartoromo'. She's sometimes referred to as 'The Money Honey' by those who frequent that channel.

My brother was at that Hofstra show. I was too young. I assumed it sucked and razzed him for going but was secretly jealous.

At the show?

No way! that's funny. Pretty small world. I was in college at the time. I think I was covering the show for the Nassau CC newspaper. There might have been a third band on the bill, too, but I'm having trouble remembering.
