Mets-Brewers Trivia

1) Only six players in major league history have played exclusively for both the Mets and the Brewers (meaning they played for no other major league teams). Interestingly, all six are pitchers. Name them. I'll give you the years they pitched for both teams. #1) NYM 63-66, MIL 71 #2) NYM 78-79, MIL 81-82 - Dwight Bernard #3) MIL 86-89, NYM 92 and 95 #4) MIL 83-86, NYM 87 - Bob Gibson #5) MIL 73-74 and 76, NYM 78-80 #6) NYM 89-90, MIL 90-91 2) Jeromy Burnitz has hit the most homers (165 as a Brewer, 53 as a Met) of all players who have played for both teams. Who has hit the second most? 3) Who has the most wins (hint: 47 as a Met, 9 as a Brewer) of all pitchers who have pitched for both teams? (Hint: He's pitched for a lot of other teams as well.) Number two is Dwight Bernard. The challenge shoudl be who reached the highest total in both uniforms. That should be the challenge, if only because I think I know that one. Skip Lockwood.

Number 4 is the other Bob Gibson.

#2 is Dwight Bernard #4 is Bob Gibson Skip Lockwood: 24 wins as a Met, 28 as a Brewer = 52 wins, four shy of the record-holder. Good guess, but wrong. Lockwood does have the most losses (55 as a Brewer, 36 as a Met) in both uniforms, however. The guy with the most wins went 56-54 in both unis.

Yeah, I knew that was wrong. Still think it's better to measure a guy by the level he reached in each uniform. Else, we have Warren Spah with the most career wins with the Milwaukee Braves and Mets, and Willie Mays with the most career homers with the Giants and Mets. The truly hybrid legacies are more interesting. Plus I don't know.

Oh, and the pitcher has got to be Jesse Arroz con Pollo.

The pitcher is Orosco. Jesse pitched three years in Milwaukee; that's reasonably significant for his career path.
