Maine vs Hudson
Most likely rearranged 'DGANG' lineups to be announced soon.

But on to the important stuff:

Did anyone hear last night when Gary announced that "The Official Game Time Temperature" (a sponsored spot of course) of 93 degrees was the highest at Shea since six years ago in early August when it was 98 at first pitch?

And I'm thinking ... 'Hey I remember that game' -- 98 degrees on it's way to 104 IIRC -- and I bet several others here remember it also.

In fact, I believe it was six years ago Today.

Things that will be said and heard today....most important game of the year(so was last night),a must win game if ever there was one,Maine must step up today, gotta jump on Hudson early.....

anyway a win would be great of course ,nice to get the Braves back to 51/2 games.

Castro instead of Lo Duca and Anderson instead of Milledge, but otherwise they're pretty much putting the A-team out there on a day game after a night game.

Nymr83
Aug 09 2007 09:38 AM

Castro is the A-Team.
I'm annoyed that Milledge is sitting for Anderson in the rubber game against the Braves, can't he sit tommorow against FLA instead?

Willets Point
Aug 09 2007 09:38 AM

Good, because this is a "Must Win!"

sharpie
Aug 09 2007 09:49 AM

Anderson has been decent against Hudson (4-for-12) but he was 9-for-26 with 2 homers against Smoltz -- why not start him in that game instead?

DocTee
Aug 09 2007 09:49 AM

Agreed. I hope Maine steps up today and the offense jumps on Hudson early.

holychicken
Aug 09 2007 10:24 AM

Why is castillo bunting there? Was he bunting for a hit? So frustrating that Reyes takes some pitches and then castillo goes up and gets out on the first pitch. :(

holychicken
Aug 09 2007 10:25 AM

Of course the sac bunt results in a run. . . go wright :)

Benjamin Grimm
Aug 09 2007 10:32 AM

It looked like a three-run homer off Alou's bat, but on the replay it showed that, had it not been caught, it probably would have hit near the top of the left field wall.

But that ball really jumped off the bat.

Marlon singles and says "Shut up, both a youse."

Gamecast makes it seem like the baserunners are hopping really high when on base.

Frayed Knot
Aug 09 2007 11:11 AM

I think it's safe to say that this lineup has missed Alou's bat over the last two months.

I always had faith in him, thought it was a master stroke by Omar.

Aug 09 2007 11:21 AM

sac fly in that situation is ok by me. I hate the way gameday works there where it just says run(s) and you automatically assume there's a f'in 3 run dinger.
A sac fly then seems like SUCH a relief.

Frayed Knot
Aug 09 2007 11:28 AM

Milledge PH-ing for Anderson who apparently rolled over on his wrist trying to make a catch.

4-3 GO

Rotblatt
Aug 09 2007 11:43 AM

Well, he got out of the inning without allowing any more damage, but we REALLY need a run or two back here.

Top of the order. Let's get it done, boys!

3 run HR by Larry followed by a solo by Tex.

Willets Point
Aug 09 2007 11:48 AM

God forbid we get a break.

Rotblatt
Aug 09 2007 11:51 AM

Atta boy, Delgado!

We get one back on a single--Reyes scores from second!

Willets Point
Aug 09 2007 11:54 AM

Green almost made me wet my pants with delight.

Frayed Knot
Aug 09 2007 11:56 AM

(Lack of) speed hurting us this inning.

- Delgado's RBI 1B [u:85905bed25]could have[/u:85905bed25] been a double but wasn't

- so Alou 1B (coulda been a 2B) doesn't score Delgado

- and now Green HBP (coulda been a wild pitch) doesn't score anyone

not that speed had anything to do with that last one

Rotblatt
Aug 09 2007 12:02 PM

Well, one run isn't so terrible, either. We've still got some time, and we're just about into their bullpen--Hudson's at 97 pitches, and he's due up this inning.

Edgy DC
Aug 09 2007 12:03 PM

The league used to not care about players taking speed before a day game.

Edgy DC
Aug 09 2007 12:04 PM

Ramon not showing us some A-Team work there.

Frayed Knot
Aug 09 2007 12:05 PM

And Hudson hits for himself ... and he bunts a run in.

Frayed Knot

Yeah, but unfortunately our lack of speed isn't being caused by a lack of speed, it's just the result of a lack of speed.

Rotblatt
Aug 09 2007 12:08 PM

Ugh. Well, there goes my optimism for this game . . .

preparing myself for the onslaught in the papers tomorrow,of course I shouldn't read it.

Taking a break to eat lunch. Radio on. Time for a ten-run inning.

8th or 9th innings definitely -- and if the runner was only on 3rd definitely also.

But in the 7th, with 3 cracks at offense and the alternative being a GiDP .... eh, I could go either way there.

Edgy DC
Aug 09 2007 12:38 PM

Well, two more cracks now.

Centerfield
Aug 09 2007 12:39 PM

My mistake. Ten-run innings come in the bottom of the eighth. Must be next inning.

Maybe it'll be the top of the 8th.

Keith just did a terrible Bob Murphy impression.

Centerfield
Aug 09 2007 12:54 PM

Even if we can get one run, Wickman is vulnerable. Scratch one across guys.

Edgy DC
Aug 09 2007 01:01 PM

Too greedy in looking for a ten-spot.

I would've settled for an eight-run eighth.

Willets Point
Aug 09 2007 01:02 PM

Milledge takes a spilledge to catch the ball.

Benjamin Grimm
Aug 09 2007 01:04 PM

That came after Green took a face full of sand diving in vain for a foul ball.

Edgy DC
Aug 09 2007 01:11 PM

Rowdy Yates in to finish.

Benjamin Grimm
Aug 09 2007 01:16 PM

Single by Gotay, double by Reyes.

Second and third, nobody out.

Will this become something?

Gwreck
Aug 09 2007 01:19 PM

Prove me wrong, Mets, but I HATE HATE HATE homers in the 9th that bring us one run short.
