Anybody Know Matt?

Pastey Met fan Matt Murphy, 22, of Queens, New York, on a one-way stopover in San Francisco on his way to Australia, makes a late decision to take in last night's Giants' game, and gets a golden ticket in his Wonkabar, plus an armful of sexy lady cop.

Nice that he's wearing not just one but two Met shirts for his moment in the sun.

Nice also that he survived the scrum, particularly if you see the film of the fat guy in a orange shirt who decides to take a flying dive onto the pile about 10 seconds into it as if that lame attempt would net him the ball.

I was talking to Hal Roach the other day. He doesn't say much*, but it's nice, just sitting on the porch, enjoying the lemonade. Suddenly, he leans forward and says, "Edgy, a fat guy taking a flying dive into a scrum of money-grabbers equals comedy gold. Comedy gold, my friend."

Then he leaned back, sipped his lemonade, and slipped back into whatever reverie is was lost in.

*Seeing as how he died in 1992 and exists only in my imagination.

Bonda was asked if he knew it was a Mets fan that caught the ball, said he didn't care and only hoped the guy didn't get hurt.

Mightn't the last home run Bonds ever hits be worth more than this one?

Edgy I thought you were talking about Hal Roach the comic from Waterford, who is not dead.....

Mike Bascik taking it all in stride, felt proud that he went right after Bonds all night and now says he and Al Downing can go to the card shows together...he was joking I think.Bonds talked with him after and gave him a signed bat...."to Mike ,God bless, Barry"

I would think that Hank Aaron's 715 ball would be worth more than his 755.

I would think so. The image of 715 famous. I don't think I've ever even seen a replay of 755.

Mike Bacsik has deftly parlayed this experience into his first-ever daily hitcount victory on the Ultimate Mets Database. And today he looks certain to make it two in a row. (Unless Jeff Reardon robs another jewelry store, or Kevin Mitchell beheads another cat, or David Cone masturbates in public, or Cory Lidle finds a way to posthumously crash a plane into an apartment building.)

That makes TWO batters Bacsik should have hit, but didn't.
And he has/will garner more fame in not doing so.
There's no justice in this world.

Murphy is on his way to Oz first class courtsy of Quatas airlines,Russo is killing Murphy for wanting to cash in on his catch...the guy that owns Steiner sports says the ball is worth about 250 to 300,he was in talks with Murph about a price.

That's absurd. If I had a baseball that was worth $300,000 I'd be sure to sell it.

The guy's 22 years old. He can pay off his college and/or buy his first house with that money. Why should he keep a stupid baseball? I'd rather have a house than a baseball.

I'd rather have a house than a plaque next to a baseball at the Hall of Fame too. I don't know what Russo expected the kid to do with it, but I'd be on the phone with Sotheby's STAT.

Now that I think of it, you're right.
Nice catch, Mr. Rogers.
