I head this on XM befor getting disgusted with the game.

Which Mets reliever from the 1970s started as a position player -- even playing in a major league game -- before converting to pitching?

No cheating if you heard it on the radio!

Skip Lockwood was an infielder. I don't know if he ever played that position in the majors though.

Locoweed came up and failed as an infielder, went down to the minors, came up and failed as a starting pitcher, went down to the mnors, came up and flourished as a reliever.
