The Snooze today notes that Willie and Shawn Green had a sit-down yesterday, before Green sat down for Milledge despite a RH pitcher going last night.

Yeah Greenie seems like a decent sort and like he said he's not exactly tearing the cover of the ball.

Or catching many balls for that matter.

Assuming that he was told that he's going to be the odd man out from this point on would make sense considering the timing. For all the talk about how Green should have been sitting all along, this is really the first opportunity to do so on a lasting basis.

I always like a team to have five "starters" to fill in between outfield and first. Now they do.

On August fifth, Mr. Sparkle turned on him at UMDB.

This illustrates the complexity of rooting for Green. I want him to do well because he is one of the most decent and mature men playing professional sports. The problem is that he's not much of a player any more and Lastings Milledge is a genuinely exciting talent. He was a decent fill-in for a year, but just decent. He was disappointing and I'm disappointed for him. I would have expected him to adjust to his new role with class.

Though there hasn't been much payoff of late, I take pleasure in rooting for Green and Easley, two veterans who exude professionalism. Damion deconstructs an at-bat as well as anyone I've ever heard. Shawn is one of the better baserunners on the team even if his speed is quite limited (and heads-up baserunning seems an increasingly rare delight these days). These are two guys who have been around a long time with no World Series trips between them. It would be nice if each could get one very soon.

I have to say it pisses me off that Lastings Milledge calls in sick 2 days after becoming the starter.

"Nobody I know gets sick 25 times a year."

That was actually unintentional. As opposed to many of the jokes I throw in on purpose which are largely uncaught or just plain ignored.

Easely backing up G-Fafif's words with some good hustle and fundamentals as Gary put it.
