Call it Simpsonized II 1) Find your name on the list, made up of recent and frequent posters. If you can't find your name, and want ot participate, my apologies. Please let me know below or e-mail me at edgydc////@////yahoo.com. If you don't a gentle no thanks below or sent to the same address is welcome. Find your assigned Met --- he may be Jose Reyes or he may be Tom Nieto --- next to your name and embrace him to your heart. Right to your little bosom. 2) Find a picture of your Met on the internet. It needs to be a big one, at least 640 X 480, color, and a portrait, not a full-body shot. 3) Right click it and download a copy to your hard drive. 4) Visit http://simpsonizeme.com 5) Follow their instrucitons in turning your Met into a citizen of Springfield, USA. 6) Do an amazin' job. 7) Look under Export in the righthand column, and save the picture as a gif on your hard drive. 8) Optional: If you are capable and inspired, touch it up with your desktop art applications, just to add a mole or something. But try not to break out of the style of the original. And just be careful and save a copy of your un-touched-up version, in case you putz it up. 9) E-mail me a copy of your brilliant work at edgydc////@////yahoo.com. 10) Thrill with the forum as we assemble a virtual roster. For consistency sake, should we do white Mets with realistic color skin or yellow skin. (Both are options.) I vote yellow. And no, irish, you don't have to enroll or anything.

I think you use yellow for Caucausians and the other appropriate skin tones for players of African, Latin American, and Asian background.

One gets strangely intimate with the ballplayer when answering the questions about specific physical characteristics. I could find no photos of Valentin without his hat on so I have no idea what his hair looks like.

The pictures don't seem to have as much to do with the transfer as your own editing. I'd take the biggest one you can find, download it, and then resize it.

Getty Images is a good place to find the big versions of the spring training portrait shots. The watermark usually doesn't obscure the face.

There's a Simpsonized Mets uniform somewhere. (From the episode where Apu tried to Americanize himself.) Maybe that can be photoshopped under the Mets heads. (Might have to remove the piping, though. I think it was a 1986-style uniform.) Sounds like a job for Zvon.

m.e.t.b.o.t. has sent a mr. met to project coordinator edgydc. m.e.t.b.o.t. is not convinced that m.e.t.b.o.t.'s handywork is yet complete, nor does m.e.t.b.o.t. believe that the burger king simsponize me is optimized for mascot transformation. m.e.t.b.o.t. will endeavor to further modify simpsonized mr. met until simpsonized mr. met is deemed suitable. currently, simpsonized mr. met appears to be a pale bald guy, with stitches on his head, which is technically correct.

It took some searching, but I found a good shot of David Newhan without a hat on. Unfortunately, the picture is only 140 x 187 so I don't think it can be used. I keep searching for a suitably sized shot of Newhan.

Again, their hattedness doesn't seem to matter much. You can also resize the photos with your desktop art thingies.

I tried five times, increasing the size of my photo, and it kept trying to Simpsonize the same photo (at least from what it showed in the box). After two times, I cleared cookies, etc. While this was going on the freakin' Pirates scored way too much. I'll try a different pic tomorrow ... maybe.

When I resized the image, it loses definition and gets blurred. I don't have any Photoshop (or similar software) on my computer. I may be ill equipped and almost certainly am ignorant of what I need to do in order to complete this assignment.

I resized my photo to the point of excess blurriness, and the Simpsons machine didn't care... at least you'll get a starting point that you can customize from.

The Simpsonizer keeps telling me that it can't see Philip Humber's face, and I've tried three different photos. I had high hopes for Humber when I first downloaded his photos, but they needed some major editing, and they haven't been the same since. I'll give it another shot, but it doesn't look like Humber is going to turn into anything better than a back-of-the-rotation Simpson. Mike Pelfrey's chances of becoming Simpsonized may be a bit better than Humber's at this stage of the game.

One can resize with Microsoft Paint, available in pretty much every Windows package since 1990. Open the photo and select Stretch/Skew from the Image menu. After increasing the size to 200% or so, both horizontally and vertically, you can check the pixel size, by selecting Attributes from that same Image menu. Try it! It's fun!

This weekend. We have about 15. Foks who sent it directly from simpsonizeme.com, instead of downloading and e-mailing me, I'm not sure who I've got. I know most of you by handle and not e-mail address and some of these likeness are more obvious than others.) Let me know who you sent by posting the first part of your e-mail and the met you made. Such as I'm andyt23 and I sent you Charlie Samuels. Also, soup turned in an excellent Willie in a nicely photoshopped Mets jersey and cap. Should I upload these as is, or turn them over to soup, who has volunteered to dress the others?

Yeah, some of us have worked to hard on the hairlines to have everybody capped. I think it'd be cool to dress them all in jerseys but just have soupcan slap the insignia on the ones who already have caps. I originally had Carlos Delgado naked, but eventually dressed him.

I just can't get the damn thing to work with David Newhan. I have tried everything and have numerous enlarged images of Newhan on my computer, but I just can't get the images to the Simpsonizer. I'm a defeated and broken man. I apparently need some time in AA so I can get some confidence back.
