... and he's still dead.

I don't care what that lady from the trailer park in Arkansas tells you about seeing him in a Burger King last week.

Top 5 Favorite Elvis Songs:

1. Heartbreak Hotel
2. Suspicious Minds
3. Can't Help Falling In Love
4. Hound Dog
5. Are You Lonesome Tonight - a live recording where Elvis cracks a joke and then laughs uncontrollably for several minutes. The backup singers are unfazed and just keeping singing.

"Suspicious Minds" is really under-rated. Elvis really had an opportunity to escape from the Hollywood trash he had been singing and re-invent himself as a soul singer. He hadn't been given a song like that to sing in years, and likely never was again until shortly before he died when he was supposedly going to record a few songs by a young Texan named Steve Earle.

For the first 20 or so years of my life I had no idea it was Elvis singing the song. It just sounds so un-Elvis, and as Edgy puts it, soulful.

At least one elderly lady died Wednesday night in the 100-degree heat outside Graceland while on an Elvis vigil.
If she had gone while on the crapper then the whole experience would have been complete.
