Surprised we didn't go with Conine at first and Alou in left against the lefty.

Guess Moises needs a day to rest them weary legs.

i hate FOX gimmicks, Sean Landetta doing the Mets lineup? who cares about him, if you can't get a Met to do it do it yourself

I woulda had Ralph doing it.

It's a pleasure listening to him and Tim reunited, and thank you to the Mets offense for making this a long inning.

scoring a few more runs would have been nice, Delgado is a LOB-machine

Painless for those who think he's washed up ... hope you weren't put out.

Music to my eyes and ears for someone who thinks he's the cats pajamas.

Gotta love getting it around down to first after the strikeout. Not seen quite so often.

Elster88
Aug 25 2007 03:24 PM

Sometimes I think the dirtier Reyes uniform is the better shot we have at
winning.

We have a good shot today.

GILETTE

Is Milledge fast? I'm seriously asking.

Nymr83
Aug 25 2007 03:36 PM

they just walked Conine to get to Delgado with 2 outs... how far has this guy fallen?

Elster88
Aug 25 2007 03:37 PM

In a million years, I never woulda thought to walk Conine to pitch to Delgado.

But the Dodgers would be stupid not too.

Oooh the fans are cheering him. Weird. We must have moved to St. Looie without anyone telling me.

Nymr83

Delgado finally gets it done, 3-0 Mets

Elster88
Aug 25 2007 03:37 PM

And the standing ovation gets it done.

Don't boo your own team peeps and you might just pump them up.

The words binkybaby.com are clearly written on one of the beams that will comprise CitiField's upper deck.

Amazing how often the 'runners-on/two-out' situations seem to occur when the slumpy guy's slot is due up. That spot's been following Delgado around for days now - and he finally comes through.

Are the Yankees playing this game? McCarver talks about them more than he does anything else...

Frayed Knot
Aug 25 2007 04:12 PM

And just as I was about to say some really nice things about El Duque, the Dodgers go back-to-back on him.
Looks like it's gonna be another nail-biter.

So, 3-2 after a pair of seventh-inning homers. Mets looking to pay back in the bottom of the inning.

Edgy DC
Aug 25 2007 04:20 PM

Mets getting some shots in on their former bullpenners this week.

Frayed Knot
Aug 25 2007 04:26 PM

Well that was ugly.

Edgy DC
Aug 25 2007 04:30 PM

Hmmm. Castillo, defensive replacement?

Frayed Knot
Aug 25 2007 04:33 PM

Even when Delgado isn't hitting he retains the best post-GiDP fist-pump in the league.

Radio team couldn't make enough of Wagner not being up in the ninth.

How are we going to do this? Feliciano and Sosa behind him?

Edgy DC
Aug 25 2007 04:40 PM

Heilman. Good.

Iubitul
Aug 25 2007 04:41 PM

I was thinking about this last night when Willie wasted him with a 4 run lead...

"Radio team couldn't make enough of Wagner not being up in the ninth"

TV crew - sideline reporter Ken Rosenthal specifically - reported that Wagner feels spent from the last few outings and is getting the day off.
So it's backup closer Aaron Heilman to the rescue.

Nymr83
Aug 25 2007 04:42 PM

Heilman on for the 9th.
Wagner has pitched in 2 of the last 3 and 3 of the last 5... i'm suprised he is unavailable.
edit- and yeah, bringing him in to a 4 run game last night was pointless

Elster88
Aug 25 2007 04:46 PM

I'm nervous.

Hoorah! Big win for the good guys.

One at-bat does not a season make. But all I want is big playoff hits. He can go oh for September as long as October is ok.

Cuz let's face it. The Braves and Phillies suck.

Thought McCarver missed a golden opportunity in the early going when Kenny Albert asked who his "nicest teammate ever" had been (after such a complement was bestowed on Jeff Conine by Moises Alou).

T-Mac named a few guys, but left off that list was his play-by-play partner of 16 years (and the third inning), Ralph Kiner.

Good to see/hear him again, nonetheless.

DocTee
Aug 25 2007 08:11 PM

McCarver also declared the Mets the "base stealingest" team in the bigs.

San Diego defeated the Phillies by a score of 4-3. All of the Padres runs were the result of solo home runs (Cameron, Bradley, Kouzmanoff, and Sledge).

The Cardinals just finished off the Braves by a score 5-4. Jason Isringhausen struck out Andruw Jones with runners on second and third to end the game.

The Mets positions seems to be improving by the day.
