Castillo sitting out again, did I miss something?,amy chance Jowe Morgan would sit this one out?
Zvon Aug 26 2007 06:06 PM |
May I suggest a seperate thread called JOE MORGAN AND HIS CRAZY COMMENTS?
Valadius Aug 26 2007 06:07 PM |
Z! Where the heck have you been?
Zvon Aug 26 2007 06:11 PM |
eww, dubious start.

Alls I can say is I curse my cable provider for taking away the CW11 and holding it hostage until I fork up a monthly fee to view it, and suggest you never get into playing World Of Warcraft, which can severly eat into a persons innerweb time.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 06:18 PM |
woohoo--Furcal is stranded and Maines line retains the goose egg that I really need from him fantasy baseball wise :)
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 06:23 PM |
Lastings! NOOOOOOOOO
Valadius Aug 26 2007 06:24 PM |
Lastings gets aboard.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 06:25 PM |
WTF!
Valadius Aug 26 2007 06:27 PM |
At least it's better than not running at all... paging Timo Perez...
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 06:29 PM |
Sandy Sr.: Rally killer.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 06:29 PM |
Boy, replay made it look like that one's on Sandy, not Lastings.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 06:30 PM |
Alomar makes way too many poor decisions. We've known that for months.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 06:34 PM |
The Barbarian is at the plate.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 06:34 PM |

bmfc1 Aug 26 2007 06:35 PM |
Did you know that Marlon Byrd was a Met? Joe Morgan thinks he is!
Valadius Aug 26 2007 06:35 PM |
Conine better do something good tonight. I've got one of my favorite clips of all time prepared for him.
bmfc1 Aug 26 2007 06:39 PM |
That was on Lastings... on a relay, you have to delay your stop sign in case the relay is overthrown. If you give it too early and the throw is bad, the runner has to stop and start. Alomar did it properly there--Lastings blew it.
Edgy DC Aug 26 2007 06:43 PM |
So are we at odds whether Milledge or Alomar blew that play? Radio guys seem to think it was Milledge's fault.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 06:44 PM |
MILLEDGE!!!!!!!!!
martin Aug 26 2007 06:44 PM |
joe morgan thinks "shawn hillenbrand" did a nice job.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 06:45 PM |
see....I jinxed him.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 06:47 PM |
Let's pair Joe Morgan with Tim McCarver. We can call it the "Senile Sportscast". They'll say more bone-headed things than we'll be able to keep track of.
Edgy DC Aug 26 2007 06:49 PM |
I don't think either one of them are senile. While it's easy enough to dislike either or both, I don't think Tim McCarver compares to Joe Morgan.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 06:50 PM |
Maine takes a big swing and gets aboard. Reyes up.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 06:52 PM |
Nah, McCarver's a kook, but he knows his stuff. Morgan's just an idiot.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 06:53 PM |
Joooose, Jose Jose Jose...
bmfc1 Aug 26 2007 06:54 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Aug 26 2007 06:57 PM |
Nice job by Alomar... did Morgan call him "Roberto"?
Valadius Aug 26 2007 06:54 PM |
Wright gives us the lead!!!
Edgy DC Aug 26 2007 06:54 PM |
Wow, Wright picked off.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 06:58 PM |
yea, that was allwright. I feel a sense of post season like atmosphere here for the first time this season. ....Or is it just me, the guy who only gets to see like a dozen reg season Met games this yr :( OK, ill stop whining about that.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 06:59 PM |
Wright's awesomeness on at the plate more than makes up for the dumbth of getting picked off.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 06:59 PM |
*clang*
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 06:59 PM |
OUCH.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:00 PM |
OW!!!
Zvon Aug 26 2007 07:02 PM |
OUCH!
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 07:02 PM |
Hopefully, that doesn't spark a patented Maine Meltdown.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 07:04 PM |
Urg. That 3-1 pitch was close, then the 3-2 was way up and out. Come on, JM. Hang in there. And another foul on what would have been ball four.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 07:04 PM |
I can't decided whether I like the Dodgers new road uniform, or whether they need the white outline on the lettering.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 07:04 PM |
We all say OUCH or OW,and.. lmao... as always JD provides his most seperated and singular account of the event. :):)
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 07:05 PM |
ESPN has a billion cameras at the game but have yet to show us whether Alomar was tardy and/or wishy-washy as Milledge approached. What we saw looked like indecisiveness, but I can't say for sure. What appears to be the case was Milledge didn;t see him until too late.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:06 PM |
Oh great.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 07:07 PM |
How the hell did that grounder get thru for a single?
Edgy DC Aug 26 2007 07:07 PM |
No doubt, but I'm not enojoying the 30-steal boundness of his season so much, with pitchers catching him more than catchers.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 07:07 PM |
Ms. Wolf: "Isn't Jeff Kent kind of a dick?"
Zvon Aug 26 2007 07:09 PM |

hahahaha hey--we need Ventrillo here.

Kendall, Lieberthal, Piazza --- a lot of once-good catchers hitting bottom this year.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 07:16 PM |
I wouldnta done that if he weren't standing.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:16 PM |
Dammit Conine, get a hit! Please!!!
Zvon Aug 26 2007 07:20 PM |
that was pretty amazing that he stayed standing too. kent is one tuff cookie. ohh, what could have been.........
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 07:22 PM |
THAT was outstanding. Nice job by David Wells.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2007 07:24 PM |
My take on Milledge/Alomar:
Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:25 PM |
...but he's HUGE!!! How did he do that?!?!?
Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:28 PM |
We HAD Pierre!!! DAMMIT!!!
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2007 07:29 PM |
Weird game when Pierre can't bunt and Wells does.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 07:29 PM |
David Wells, raising havoc on the basepaths and creating runs.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 07:31 PM |
aww carp.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:31 PM |
DAMMIT MAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:32 PM |
All right DiFelice!!!!!!
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 07:32 PM |
Matt Kemp, making David Wells look like Rickey Henderson on the basepaths.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 07:32 PM |
YEAAAAAAAAA!
metirish Aug 26 2007 07:32 PM |
Terrible stuff on the bases by Kemp...tagges st third.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 07:33 PM |
One more stupid out at 3rd base and we're all tied up.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2007 07:34 PM |
Messed up game so far;
Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:36 PM |
Let's see Maine hit a homer off the fatass.
metirish Aug 26 2007 07:36 PM |
Tom McCarthy on the radio said that Alomar put the stop sign on late and Milledge really didn't have a chance to put the brakes on.....but then McCarthy said that Milledge shoiuld have been watching his coach.

Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:47 PM |
GODDAMMIT ALOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 07:47 PM |
Well, we had a chance...
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 07:51 PM |
We shoulda turned it over in the 4th. 6-7-8 again in the 6th.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 07:51 PM |
Did you know that Russ Martin leads the Dodgers in "being an excellent player"? What a fascinating stat. Thank God we have Jon Miller available tonight to impart his wisdom.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 07:52 PM |
We really miss Castillo.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 07:55 PM |
Jon! Cut it out!
Valadius Aug 26 2007 07:59 PM |
LASTINGS!!!!!!!!!!!
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:00 PM |
LA scores another run ,4-2 now, lets beat up on the LA pen...
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 08:00 PM |
You know, Milledge has really done nothing for me recently. Can we retroactively trade him for Alfonso Soriano or something?
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:02 PM |
Not only is Mota out there... but so is Schoeneweis.
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:02 PM |
Willie has seen enough of the Maine act...LA are playing at home Monday night,ESPN not only screws the fans but LA as well.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 08:02 PM |
I'll just admit it: I like Jon Miller a lot; and I think Joe Morgan is perfectly acceptable for the jock announcer role he plays. National guys are never going to get it as right as the local fans would want it. But those 2 are OK by me, especially since they most often call games of teams I don't see often enough to be a snarked out critic.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 08:03 PM |
Maine disappoints me, tho im sure i disappointed him as well when i jinxed him in an earlier post.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:03 PM |
No. Not Schoeneweis!!!
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:05 PM |
And Schoeneweis makes it business as usual by fucking up.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 08:05 PM |
And very quickly, it's turned ugly.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 08:06 PM |
We're not as crispy as we've been in recent games. Too many dumb plays.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:06 PM |
Why the fuck do we STILL have Schoeneweis?!?!?!?
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 08:06 PM |
And speaking of the Nats, there are writers out there talking up Manny Acta as manager of the year. I guess the trend now is to be the manager of a team that sucks, but doesn't suck as much as the sportswriters said it would before the season. Because, you see, the writers can't be wrong. So then Acta, like Joe Girardi before him, must be a miracle worker. Oh, and Scheoenweis sucks.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 08:07 PM |
I usually like Miller; he's not the problem for me. Morgan bothers me because he's supposed to be the expert, lending his name to "Baseball For Dummies" and things like that, but it seems like he's just talking just to fill space without processing anything through the truth sensor first.
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:08 PM |
The problem I have with Morgan is he says shit that's not true and acts like it is,stuff he should know weather he knows that team or not,Miller then doesn't correct him.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:09 PM |
Goddamn shitty Schoeneweis...
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:10 PM |
Great on the road,he should get that deal Clemens has except in reverse.
Nymr83 Aug 26 2007 08:13 PM |
Schoenweis stinks, i have a feeling Maine is gonna be the odd man out of the rotation in the playoffs if Pedro is back
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2007 08:13 PM |
We can blame Schoeneweis all we want folks, but this game's on Maine.
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:16 PM |
I was thinking the sane thing, has time to get his act together.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 08:17 PM |
kinda like our commander and chief ;) I think Joe is nowhere near as lame as he usually is. The line about never seeing Carl Lewis dive to the finish line in regards to Milledge sliding head1st into 1st, and how a runner gets there faster by running thru the base, was classic funny. Broadcast laff of the night with a broadcast team that i never expect to get a laff from. Credits where credits due.(tho lameness usually irks me to no end) Im gonna install a filter that wont allow my browser to display any posts where Joe Morgan or any combination of his two names, is typed. Reading about him seems to detract from my IGT experience :(
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:17 PM |
What I don't understand is why the hell we still HAVE Schoeneweis. Surely there's SOMEBODY out there we can replace him with.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 08:18 PM |
u gotta be kidding with that observation.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 08:19 PM |
The 6-7-8 hitters going in order 3 times are guilty parties too.
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:19 PM |
Dude has a three year contract with some serious cabbage.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 08:21 PM |
^im referring to Maine ever being removed from the rotation, of course, cuz Schoeneweis does more than just stink. He reeks of suck
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:21 PM |
Tom McCarthy sounding really freaking creepy/insane with this helmet story.
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:22 PM |
Joe,Peter and Jon are talking up a storm about Pedro.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2007 08:24 PM |

I'd like a shut-down 6th inning reliever too. If you find one let me know.
Bradford - 60 hits in 52 IPs Schoeneweis - 45 hits in 45.2 IPs I don't miss him too much.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:25 PM |
Well at least the Dodgers didn't score any runs this inning.
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:26 PM |
That's a relief.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 08:26 PM |
Joe saying there are people out there saying the Mets might not make the playoffs?
DocTee Aug 26 2007 08:26 PM |
Miller is so much better doing SF Giants games than he is the Sunday night broadcast. He knows the team, players, issues, history... he used to be a vendor at Candlestick...
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:27 PM |
Steve Phillips has said it a few times on Baseball Tonight.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 08:27 PM |

He was talking about me 3 weeks ago.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 08:28 PM |
Mostly Steve Phillips, who would deny that the Mets were in the playoffs even if they'd already clinched.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:29 PM |
Chad Bradford has a 3.29 ERA. Shitty-weis has a 4.79 ERA.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 08:29 PM |
Joe Beimel, sporting the uni #97. Neato.
Nymr83 Aug 26 2007 08:30 PM |
Why am i kidding? Hernandez has been the Mets' best pitcher lately, they aren't going to not start Glavine no matter what he does, if Pedro is pitching the 3rd game that leaves Perez or Maine to get bumped. personally i would just not start Pedro unless he is LIGHTS OUT in 3 or 4 starts when he gets back, in which case i'd not start Glavine, but i don't think the Mets will do that.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 08:31 PM |
I want Pedro as my shutdown 6th-7th inning guy. Just let him come in there in a big spot and get a few outs.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 08:32 PM |
Biemel is the dope who cut his hand in a bar fight jut as the playoffs started last year and pretended he did it drinking water in his hotel room.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:32 PM |
Jose, Jose Jose Jose... Jose... Jose...

Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:35 PM |
#71 for Reyes!

Zvon Aug 26 2007 08:36 PM |
OMG--how awsum would that be?! I never would have considered it....
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:36 PM |
Here's our big chance again......I'd not want any other except Wright up in this spot.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 26 2007 08:37 PM |
Promised you a miracle
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 08:37 PM |
Jonathan Broxton enters, combining with Wells to set a National League record for most pounds pitched for the same team in one game.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:38 PM |
I'd also like Beltran to contribute something tonight.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 08:41 PM |

Bad ass!
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:41 PM |
Good lord, Broxton looks like an offensive lineman!
Zvon Aug 26 2007 08:42 PM |
ugh--ive never seen Wright dismissed in such a fashion before
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 08:42 PM |
Yeah, because he's really done nothing the last week or so. /sarcasm mode turned off Seriously though, you want it? Here's his chance. Fucking crush one, big guy.
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:42 PM |
Hell of a pitch right there to freeze Wright.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 08:42 PM |
Well, shit. Carlos Delgado could have done that.
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 08:43 PM |
We keep getting chances, and keep pissing them away.
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:43 PM |
Val was that the contribution you had in mind?
Willets Point Aug 26 2007 08:44 PM |
Words I hate to hear: "stranded in scoring position."
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:45 PM |
*sigh*
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:48 PM |
Wow. Mota got through that inning in ridiculously-quick fashion.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 08:51 PM |
...as was his wont.
metirish Aug 26 2007 08:52 PM |
Conine on with a hit...anyone catch what his AB song is...he's a rocker for sure.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 08:53 PM |
Conine gets a base hit! Time to bust out one of my favorite clips for The Barbarian:
metsguyinmichigan Aug 26 2007 08:56 PM |
What's with the "Mets" behind home plate painted in the grass? Looks like it was painted by Mrs. Jackson's third grade class with finger paints.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 08:57 PM |
Are the Mets swinging wooden bats this inning?
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2007 09:02 PM |
Are you sure he's not a Mod?
Valadius Aug 26 2007 09:02 PM |
Hey Yancy, wherever you are - Guillermo Mota's middle name is Reynoso, or so say Howie and Tom.
metirish Aug 26 2007 09:04 PM |
WOW..that would be fucking cool...I only caught the last strains of the riff so I could be wrong, if he is a Mod I wonder if him and the rockers get along in the club house.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 09:08 PM |
Aww... His Nastiness pops out.
Zvon Aug 26 2007 09:09 PM |
I never ever say a Met game is over b4 the last out, always the optimist, but Sieto's in and dis gahm is ovah folks
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 09:11 PM |
David Wright is batting .400 with Jose Reyes on base, according to Miller. Now that's a stat.
Willets Point Aug 26 2007 09:13 PM |
Well, you can't win 'em all.
seawolf17 Aug 26 2007 09:14 PM |
Lastings Milledge strikes out! Stunning.
Valadius Aug 26 2007 09:14 PM |
Bahhhhhhhhhh. Shitmonkeys.
Frayed Knot Aug 26 2007 09:25 PM |
Kid, it just wasn't your night.
Gwreck Aug 26 2007 10:44 PM |
I had a perfect view of the play -- was sitting in the front row of the upper deck at 3rd base.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 27 2007 06:45 AM |
He's absolutely awful.
metirish Aug 27 2007 07:05 AM |
Dickshot has been saying how awful Alomar is for months now...there should be an age limit on the third base job,he's too old.
Edgy DC Aug 27 2007 07:15 AM |
I think there should be a skill limit.
metirish Aug 27 2007 07:18 AM |
I think it was Bobby Valentine that said coaching third base is the toughest job in baseball......could have been Larry Bowa that said that though.
Frayed Knot Aug 27 2007 07:26 AM |
Sure, cuz you only notice them when they screw up.
Centerfield Aug 27 2007 11:15 AM |
Broadcast guys mentioned that Pedro had seen a flaw in Mota's delivery. Didn't make it until Mota pitched last night, but his line sure looks good this morning.
Gwreck Aug 27 2007 11:53 AM |
I think the story goes that he called Guy Conti from St. Lucie where he was watching games. Apparently Mota had been tipping his changeup.
Johnny Dickshot Aug 27 2007 12:22 PM |
They barely finished that story before the first batter Mota faced crushed one -- though right at Alou for an out.
Edgy DC Aug 27 2007 12:28 PM |
Wasn't Mota's turnaround in 2006 attributed in part to a corrective observation made by Pedro?
Johnny Dickshot Aug 27 2007 12:33 PM |
