The Tigers are pummeling the Dark Empire in Detroit. Mike Mussina lasted only 3 innings and was hammered for 6 earned runs on 9 hits. Sean Casey, one of the slowest players in MLB, just opened the bottom of the fifth inning with a triple. Casey apparently exhausted himself and required a pich runner.

This outing - stacked atop all his other recent ones - could cost Mussina his starting slot. Be interesting to see what they do with him. Their main problem is that he's signed for next year as well.

And 16-0 is the final in Detroit. Verlander and Miner combined for a three-hitter. The only home run in this game was a solo shot by Polanco.

After all, the Tiggers went to the WS last year, and the Phils haven't sniffed an October for some time. I mean, it's one thing to lose by 16 to the defending AL champs, but by seven to Philadelphia? Well, that something only the Flushing Nine could do.
